Industry person open for questions.
Wigwamsun. I hope that you will realise in time that I am an industry person and I am not here to slag it off. Ignorance, lack of knowledge, is rife in our industry as I can imagine also permeates other industries. I am on the site as this next twelve months will prove to be a rather trying time given the state of the business and roosters will come home to roost. I am here only to straighten out misconceptions and mis-information. Not to reveal secrets as quite frankly their aren't any. With a enquiring brain and the internet, is it too much to expect that a quiz game which pays out money is too fiendish to figure the main rational ?
Dmac07. The law covering SWP is the Prize Competition. If you go to Gambling Commission site and look up prize competitions you will see the definitions. The Gambling Act 2005 which comesd into effect on 1st September 2007 does not cover SWP games. So the law is that which is now in place will not be changed. Skill has to be the determining factor and not luck!!! Not all terminal games follow this, however the Gambling commision have been hampered by the fact they have no powers ...until 1st september.
I didnt think that the gambling commission determined whether a game is skill based or not, at least I thought that customs & excise implemented the law and determined this. From my dealings with them they are only interested with awp's as they make most money, and as swps no longer pay duty they are not interested in the content of the machines as it would make no difference to the revenue straem of the treasury. They have better things to do with their time.
Which law states that " skill must prevail and if chance, luck is involved then the game would fall under the gaming act!!!!"?borgcontact4 wrote:Dmac07. The law covering SWP is the Prize Competition. It is a cheap shot to go for your spelling...but come on. What job do you do in "the industry"?
OK Boys funs over!! I dont bother with preview and so typing errors and spelling will be evident. I am games designer and have participated with some top games. Cant say which as this will revela to some my identity.
Gambling Commission have total, or will have shortly, over wether a game is gaming or skill. They and not customs have the say. Then it will have to go to a court of law, then the chit will happen so more than likeley we will see some games withdrawn, by agreement with the industry bods, BACTA ..
Anyone with serious questions?

you don’t just jump into bed with Terry Tibbs, you take Terry Tibbs out to lunch, you wine and dine him, you give him an oil massage then he gives you 1950 if you’re lucky!
well it was a serious question. If you genuinely are involved in designing games, and there genuinely are laws which govern such games, you'd think it might be an idea to know which ones they are...borgcontact4 wrote:OK Boys funs over!!
