good pub quiz question for the future.
similar to WHUFC v MANURE ??.??.1996 (?) in its surprising uniqueness.
nobody ever wins on those things.

yesterday's was: neither team had a shirt sponsor (for the well-documented reasons). current now but it will be a pleasing quirk in a few years.

the WHUFC v MANURE one was the only premier game where the starting 22 all finished the match. don't know the exact date though.

Thanks for those Isty - they have made my day (especially the latter). I suspect the latter occurred before Soccerbase started listing the full-line ups, as every WHU - MU match between 1994 and 2000 involved the use of substitutes. If you can locate any more for me on this fact, I'd be delighted. It is absolutely amazing.

Slightly more chestnutty, but what was unique (it is thought) about Portsmouth v. Newcastle United in 1931?

i'd like it if all 22 players were from the city they played for. but no idea.

will try and find out more about the no subs game. (and i realise that there were no sponsors in the manchester derby for the munich memorial game but that was a deliberate decision.)

No; it's that there were no corner kicks in the Portsmouth v. Newcastle match. Again, surprising uniqueness.
