F'ing bacteria, they can be a real nuisance. Hopefully it's just a drill and fill, and bung you some amoxicillin, but if it's root canal then expect a hefty bill.

Alas, it is the peril of many long days on the road.

I know it's not much help to you now, but for other players, here are some top tips.

1) Keep a big bottle of water in your glove compartment. Use it to stay hydrated in between stops. If you're hydrated, your skills will be better. Also swoosh it around your mouth to remove sticky, sugary deposits.

2) Alcopops, lager, wine, bitter, spirits, stout. Alcopops being the worst for 'attacking' teeth and stout the safest. Many people are surprised lager is so bad. Most lagers are heavily processed and contain chemicals that greatly increase bacterial activity in the mouth.

3) If you're eating snacks rich in sugar, finish off with a piece of fruit. Wolfing down a Mcdonalds super sweet burger and milkshake and driving off is undesirable. Keep some fruit in the glove compartment.

4) Floss bi-weekly. Americans floss daily, to be honest it's unnecessary unless you haven't flossed for a long while.

5) Keep dental hygiene good. Brush at least twice a day, brush your cheeks and tongue as well after brushing your teeth. Rinse the toothbrush well to hep physically remove traces of bacteria on the bristles.

I brush first thing in the morning and last thing at night, keep me toothbrush in the shower so I dont forget to brush me teeth!

I never used to have a dentist until I was getting toothache then I went private and pay on the day which is well good!

The money I make is good so is my dentist lol!

I have flossed about once in me whole life, might buy some today whilst on the road

Maybe Istenem was trying to be post-modern. Maybe not.

I diagnose a sprain in the wallet, and a severe fraying of the trilby...

(Only fans of a certain sitcom will get that one!) ;)

They are.
They only do it for the excellent moisturisation properties.
Another reason that Japanese women age very well.
