The speech-writer leaked the word count for an undisclosed sum.

Can anyone help with this:

Nuts pub ammo: True or False: The average human eats 8 spiders in their lifetime?

My mate jumped and hit true and it was correct.

But I'm almost certain I read somewhere (obviously cant remember where) that an author of some sort made this fact up to prove a point about something.

Can anyone verify or disprove this?

I'm not sure whether it's actually true or false, but I've certainly seen it stated as fact before, which is often the important thing. Suspect Nuts Pub Ammo is more likely than many quiz machines to use spurious facts. It's certainly incredibly deceptive: at times my success rate on it was well under the 50 per cent chance success rate one might success. It gradually improved, although I've long since stopped playing Nuts other than when desperate.

The original (made-up) story had it as 8 per year:

Can't find conclusive proof for any of these but they pop up regularly in quizzes...

Mark McManus was Brian Connelly's brother
Koala means "no water"
Eating bananas increases the likelihood of mosquito attack
Bond family motto is "world is not enough"
Interesting - I've certainly seen that McManus / Connolly one stated as fact before (or at least with them as half-brothers), but now I look it up it appears they are foster cousins - McManus's actual father was the brother of Connolly's foster father. Disappointing. 'Orbis Non Sufficit' is given in On Her Majesty's Secret Service as the Bond family motto, which I think must be enough (ahem) for us. I think the Koala one is probably mythical. Not heard the bananas one before!

I can confirm it is true.
God, I was knackered after that!
I stick to sheep these days. They only go for 10 minutes.

The koala stat is indeed a fabrication, and yet another all too believed urban myth....
