Isty, I believe you are wrong here (gasp). The club sandwich originated in the gambling clubs in the Wild West. Sadly enough I've undergone a history of foods course whilst involved in the catering trade..Traditionally they are served with slightly toasted bread and are "triple decker".

yikes. sorry if i have been misinformed. that fact came courtesy of my physics teacher at school.
ops: i will have to see if there is any research material online.
okay one to think about: HULL CITY/hull city is the only football team with letters you can't colour in (either caps or l/c) three world capitals have the same property. (or four if you speak ukranian)
