take your pick:

a. i have attempted to play the words mentioned on the new version and have been allowed them or had them rejected, hence i can know their validity or otherwise.

b. i had a role in developing the new word list.

c. i waved a magic wand and backhacked.

d. none of the above.

if you pressed b or c, you are wrong. game over. you lose.

I doubt the game has 10 mill words - the international scrabble word list has less than 200,000, and there are still plenty of scrabble words WU doesn't take.

The old game had a 'Collins Gem and a bit' word bank (about 50,000 words, I reckon), as far as I could tell.

If option A is correct, option D should be incorrect. That's a fantastic example of an itBox spoiler!
Still kicking about.

The Vaginal Bob and the Bobsketeers almost got a world record 1950 on Saturday, but ran out of time on the last word (MOA... which was a word under the new version).

NEWS

The Vaginal Bob website (press www below) now has a Word Wall board as well. 4500 or above required. Please post scores (or pm to me).

Also, got Psychotically on the old version of WU but wasn't accepted. Bugger.

Got Rattlesnake (220) today, and Crucifixions (48) on the old version of WU, which were pleasing words even if not quite as high scoring as I would have liked.

not sure about the new prize structure.
i've cleared a few times lately, nothing spectacular; 1800 at mad bishop&bear, paddington, 1872 lord moon of the mall, traf square and each time it gave a £4 prize but for the next game £1 is at 1850-odd. and you'd have to be a mug or a genius to be confident of getting that every time. (and that goes for the rest of the punters whose worduppery is sluggish in comparison to fc whingers' heroic efforts)
so in effect you can kill a machine for weeks with a single clearance, i don't think any of us need £4 so badly that we want the game to be unplayable. maybe it will all come out in the wash (?)

So now it behaves more or less like the other games in terms of prize structure.
BTW please submit all 1700+ scores to me for the national board.

WU Individual/Overall World Record beaten today (a day after finding our old best pipped by Dave & Jon):

1952pts Edwards, Chelmsford

Lots of high-point tiles and a fluky take of KOPS at the end for a £4 jackpot.

Today's Vajinal Bob outing to Oxford featured the Bubkaesque triple breaking of the Word Up world record (which was 1952 at the start of the day):

The Cock and Camel - 1954
Antiquity Hall - 2015
Turl Bar - 2070

Pictures to follow on the VB website on Monday.
