Never saw this really happen before now

Post by ROSSKEEN »

I'd heard of bookies anomalies between them and the exchanges now and again but last weekend was the first time I took advantage of one.

Dundee Utd to beat Rangers - 5/1 in Mr Hills.

Could be laid at 3.8 on Betfair.

Bet them for £100 in shop and laid them for 105 on Betfair. Result would have been:

If Dundee won - Win £500 in Bookies and lose £399 on Betfair = £101 profit.

If Rangers won or drew - Lost £100 in bookies and won £99.75 (£105 less 5% commission) on Betfair = 25p loss.

So overall result was I lost 25p due to the draw. Dundee Utd were leading 3 times as well.

But I was amazed at the fact that for a 25p stake I'd just given myself the chance to win £101 i.e. odds of 404/1 as opposed to the bookies 5/1.

I'm a Rangers fan, but a free bet is a free bet.

Where do you live as the billie hills by me only had Dundee at 3/1.

I was at my parent's house in Troon.

There's another bookies opposite and so in order to compete, Hills has a 'bonus' coupon (they dont advertise it and it needs to be asked for) which has improved odds on every game on the coupon.

Possibly why they were giving 5/1 instead of 3/1.

there are pros that look online for this type of bet all over the worl..... takes a lot of time and patience to find said bet ,,,,, its called something like augmented or something like that

basically your just looking all over the world online till you find odds on both teams /boxers etc of 3-1 or more ........ not sure how it works in the event of a tie/draw etc.

in a nutshell a pro at this may only find 2 legitimate bets a year, but that doesnt matter because you cant lose, so you stake everything you own ,,,,,,,,,, if by example you put ten grand on tyson at 3-1 and ten grand on bruno at 3-1, you get back 30 k for your 20stake,..... im sure thers a little more to it than that, and i could be just talking bollocks making me look like a munter to the pros out there on the augmented circuit, but when the bottom finally drops out of slotting im going to investigate this further.
Little discipline = BIG issue

Arbitrage is the word that you are after

For example there might be bookies that bet

Bookie 1

8/11 A versus Evens B

Bookie 2

5/4 A versus 8/13 B

You could bet £530 win B with bookie 1 to return £1060

and

£470 win A with bookie 2 to return £1057.50

£1000 stake guaranteed at least £57.50

Note that
1. By the time you phone one of the bookies they will probably have changed the prices
2. You will have a job getting £500 accepted , especially at Fredbet, Paddy Power and Bet 365.
3. The bookies will stop accepting your bets.

ps You would need at least 15 accounts with £500 in each to benefit.

Yeah, its a dangerous game to play.

A guy down our shop was giving out a tip about 3 months ago, not unlike Harry's example above, where bookies had 2 different favourites in a 2 person competition (i think it was boxing).

He told everyone about it, put £500 on at Hills and then couldnt get £500 on at Coral.
