re: the tv show,

If you split, you either get 1/2 the money or nowt
If you steal, you either get all the money or nowt...

Or another way; whatever the other guy does, your best play is to steal, even if you know he is going to steal! So pretty much everyone will steal -but with the knowledge that your opponent may think like this too and will steal, you cant win whatever you do. Nasty paradox eh...

Jury's out for me on this. Have taken a few easy £5s at various venues but after that it clams up and starts wheeling out kippers (or at least non-general knowledge questions which'll have to be learnt over time). To form a definitive view I'd have to see how the endgame plays when one has got there when the machine doesn't want you to (i.e. you've fluked your way past various kipper questions). If in those circumstances the game would play fair, it might have potential, but my fear is that it wouldn't play fair and you'd end up with e.g. 75p. The other question is whether it'll ever give you a sniff of something better than £5 - again, my couple of goes aren't enough to determine this.

Anyway, QuizMaster's not normally wrong in his assessment of things, so I'll keep playing this for a while, but I must say I don't find it desperately exciting.

There are better games out there, i.e. more reliable payers, but there are also many worse games. The silly thing about the game is that searching for Killers, which is meant to be the objective, is pretty pointless as any you remove only get added back in after each stage. In addition, the number of Killers in the end game doesn't really relate to the prize won - my biggest win so far came when I had four Killers in the end game and then had £20, Killer, Killer, Killer, £7 as my five balls to give a £9 win.

Back to the TV show for a second, does anyone know whether Jasper Carrott is seriously ill or has he just aged a lot recently? The photo of him used on the Celebrity Millionaire game makes him look about 80! Hopefully he's OK; maybe it's just the stress of hosting such a snide and nasty show that has told on him!

Been playing this a fair bit but it is a crap shoot. More than most games if it wants you to win it practically gives you the money on a plate - the rest of the time you don't stand a chance!
Until someone actually wins £35 quid I won't be convinced its not fixed.

I thought this too, after seeing a few episodes of Canned, and The Detectives. Flicking over to GB, it looked like 40+ years had passed! Hope he's OK! :(

I'm pretty sure you'll find the maximum prize is £20, although there will have to be some shenanigans on behalf of the game to "give" you exactly that, i.e. something like £x, Killer, Killer, Killer, £20. When you get circa £30 from the first three prizes (as I have done), you have to know that it will definitely give you at least one killer to bring the total back down.

As for it being fixed, of course it is fixed - all games are in various ways - but that shouldn't by itself deter you from playing it.

Nah, no, nope, he's a bit saggier around the jowels, but nothing you woudn't expect after 15 bloomin years. The Detectives was running in '93 and most of his stand up/TV comedy stuff was before that.

I've never seen Goldenballs as I'm usually working or playing moot frachines. So I youtubed it and I got to say, he's only as old as I'd imagine someone to be 15 years on from how I imagined myself remembering him as what I imagine was what he was imagined as....oh for Gawds sake, can't I just be normal?

HE doesn't look that bad does he?

I meet him in a pub circa 1982. Face to face he looked old then!
