Is the DCE 'Y' chute above the coin mech wired up? If so the sensors possibly either want cleaning or may be faulty.

The DCE 'Y' chute is clipped in position just behind the coin slots, above and seperate from the coin mech. After insertion of coins they roll down this chute and if wired up pass a sensor before dropping into the coin mech,If this sensor is wired and as said dirty or faulty then that will cause a coin mech to stop working.
The part you are cleaning is the coin mech to which the 'Y' chute is NOT attached.

i have found how to it looks like put the machine into test mode by holding in the red button on the main board to flick through lamps reels etc

it comes up on one stage of it saying 7.1 edc/rs232 when i hit collect button it says RX ERROR

would this have anything to do with coin reader not working

cheers markyc
