"the best that you can hope for is to die in your sleep
so big tony will be in a pub near you when the new legislation re. AWP kicks in.
slightly out there this but i saw the new fat tony machine on site which promises to payout 102% for optimal strategy. so that qualifies it as SWP imo. given that most people play poker horrendously, this might be worth looking at.
basically it is endgame/heads up poker (dumbed down THE rather than european stud).
anyway, i am no whiz at poker but the probabilities probably come easy to most of the people who look in on this forum. in five minutes my pound turned into eleven. could be that nobody good at poker has found it but it was one AWP which i will notice.
an initial foray suggests that you can hoover up free money from clueless gamblers who will go all in on ace deuce unsuited. it is also very stylish but why they didn't have some queen bee with big knockers instead of a fat mafioso seems like a busted flush to me.
get this: it seems fair.
this might be an ace that i can keep.

Clearly designed by very clever people, there are tons of big breasted female dealers for video poker games and they normally look shallow and stupid like the quality of game that is often on offer. If I'm going to loose, I'd rather loose to Big Tony I won't look like such an idiot.Istenem wrote:but why they didn't have some queen bee with big knockers instead of a fat mafioso seems like a busted flush to me.
I can't wait to get on the machine, I think I could make some money.
I also think this game could be the breakthrough that the whole VAWP industry need. This years ATEI showed that most of the big companies are pushing in that direction. Judging by the responses on this board I don't think players trust it yet, but the response to Big Tony's has been totally different.

good point, well made.michaelmartin_526 wrote: If I'm going to loose, I'd rather loose to Big Tony I won't look like such an idiot.

There are two versions of the game intended for different sites. An AWP version with a £35 JP aimed at pubs, arcades etc, and the straight £500 version aimed at places legal for £500 JP machines like casinos.

I wouldn't be so sure that a computer program could play HU No-limit Holdem well enough to defend itself against good players on a level a playing field. I view that idea of such machines playing fair with something of a jaundiced eye. Gaming machines do what they need to pay for their keep. If they can do that off the back of bad play all well and good. But if they can't they are soon fixed so they do make the necessary profit anyway.

what if you just LOSE?michaelmartin_526 wrote:If I'm going to loose, I'd rather loose to Big Tony I won't look like such an idiot.

Completely agree. I wondered whether to hold off making the point, but as you made it, I'll second it. I'm no poker player, but there are many good poker players who will make a lot of cash off these.Drpepper wrote:These won't last long, i'm telling you all.
If they do legitimately pay over 100% then people will learn them and they will get absolutely rinsed.
But surely there are many more bad poker players, who will play them and lose money?grecian wrote:Completely agree. See this is the problem, I spend 90% of my life looking like an idiot.DildoDez wrote:what if you just LOSE?michaelmartin_526 wrote:If I'm going to loose, I'd rather loose to Big Tony I won't look like such an idiot.![]()

I'm sure there are loads of bad players, but surely they'd only be delaying the inevitable of some pro finding it.DildoDez wrote:But surely there are many more bad poker players, who will play them and lose money?grecian wrote:Completely agree. Then again i can't see too many professional poker or SWP players wasting their time for at best a 2% edge, so maybe it could work. I'd much rather play online than stand in a smoky arcade all day playing something i'd never be able to trust.

Dr P has a point, i doubt that the top notch guys would be tempted by big tony, in their terms the stakes are far too low to be of much interest, as i understand it, the very best guys consider knowledge of probability/strategy as a given amongst the people they play against, tells and body language are also tools of the poker pro. those who play online judge this by timing and size of bets rather than blinking or breathing patterns. tony doesn't give you any of this (unless he has been programmed to). i think it is interesting, while i only play AWP out of indiscipline and boredom, i'd gladly have a game of poker with my pint. yes, there will be punters who are better at it than me but there will be those who are worse too.
and it is a bit of fun.
Quizard gets full marks for cynicism, maybe i'm naïf but i'll give them the benefit of the doubt that the programming will remain fair. few people are good enough to play the odds perfectly for ever.
i reckon it is good that some life has been breathed into the area.[/u]
