When will Google kill the quiz machine?

Post by JakeyC »

The title says it all really.

More generally, how long until the availability and ease of use of search engines increases to the point of being able to feed it a quiz question and get an answer before the timer runs out?

I've already tried using Google alongside the quiz machine games at Ladbrokes with some success, but it's not yet at the stage where you can locate a correct answer in seconds.

Anyone tried this with a handheld in the pub?

are you sure that there are quiz games in ladbrokes as it seems unlikely they just look like quiz machines.

I can't tell the difference between their Hangman and the quiz machine version, except they also have a progressive Jackpot.

click on Demo Play if you don't have an account.

somewhere on this site there was a discussion about the ladbrokes hangman on the internet, and the consensus was it isnt a runner. I dont play hangman, but its a useful tip to know its reached the bookmakers.Thanks. Forum members will im sure be keeping their eyes on this development.

The JPM Battleships game (the old one with the pirate characters, not the version still on some ItBoxes) has also made it onto the Ladbrokes website but I have found it about as useless as the Hangman game. On both you should find it relatively easy to 'win' £1 for your £1 stake but after that you've no chance. I assume the progressive Jackpots are basically handed out randomly - if it doesn't want to give the final gold coin that triggers the JP, no amount of correct answers will get you there.

The Ladbrokes site also has at least one other quiz-based game - a naff football-based one - and the Betfred website has them as well - there's a separate thread on here about these ones, although I haven't played them myself.
