ITBOXES YOU CANT SWITCH OFF

Post by cool »

when an itbox crashes or freezes I switch it off then on no problem.Today first pub I played froze with £2 in. Publican wouldnt let me switch it off telling me he was told by leisure link never to switch it off so he was going to call an engineer who would presumably switch it off then on. Leisure link would be well disposed to remove those do not switch this machine off stickers and update their customers as they must waste a lot of money attending pubs without neccessity.

I think they can reboot them remotely instead of sending out engineers. A bit pointless though since, like you say, turning off and on will usually suffice... I guess you were too near the bar to do it without asking?

They're windows based operating systems. Turning them off/on nearly always fixes any problem. Even when they don't accept coins, turning them on/off will usually make them take coins.

I had this annoyance when I popped a £20 in and Monopoly decided to freeze half way through. "Under no circumstance can I possibly turn it off". So I just had to leave it and hope that my £20 wouldn't magically 'dissapear'.

Thankfully, the spoons was very well managed, and when I popped back a bit later, they opened this small safe behind the till and had my £20 paper-clipped nicely to a little apology note! ;)
"And do you ever contradict yourself, Minister?" "Well, yes and no..."
