spoiler follows:

the answer they wanted was 506]

£2.00 = 200p
£1.47 = 147p
50 pence = 50p
25p = 25p
16p = 16p

Which gives 438p

Now they're all in pence....

200p = 200p + 00p =200p
147p = 147p +47p +7p =201p
50p = 50p + 0p = 50p
25p = 25p + 5p = 30p
16p = 16p + 6p = 22p

Gives 503p

And if you look at the puzzle at the top, we have 25P, 16P and 50 PENCE

So add the P + P + PENCE = 3P

503 + 3P = 506p

(P.S. I ripped this answer off some website)

These channels are either rip off merchants or they think that the general viewing public at that time of night (who are drunk and only watching it because they've missed the ten minute freeview) are extremely clever.

I think it might just be the former....
