ruki2909 you say your birth year is 1977. Dear me, that makes you and I the same age. How people get through life with poor literacy and language skills is beyond me. :?

sorry to butt in. but i get paid to be a linguistic pedant. three things which get my back up are:

erroneous usage of !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CAPITALS WHICH NEEDN'T BE CAPITALS
and - used as a punctuation mark.

i realise nobody asked for my opinion so i will uck off back to the SWP forum.
cheerio.
nobody ever wins on those things.

Mr Jeans, good points!

One thing I've always noticed however, you rarely use capitals for 'i' or any sentence construction? It just stood out because of how 'crisp and clear' you are in all other linguistic parts...

Typing in ALL CAPS is generally considered SHOUTING (see Netiquette), we've had a few newbies do this in the past when asking for things. Also asking for emptiers and cheats won't get you very far. But if you have a question about a specific machine which you can't find in the Search facility, then go for it!

A request like this example:

'I'm stuck on (insert name of machine here). Can anyone offer some tips as to what the good features are please?'

works a LOT better than

'PLEASE CAN I HAVE ALL THE CHEATS AND EMPTIERS FOR ALL THE FRUIT MACHINES'

that is mainly because i'm lazy.
the stuff i publish has the proper syntax. but it is polite to use capitals for other people's names/pseuds

another one which gets me is people who say crispy which isn't a proper word
nobody ever wins on those things.

The problem is that when you apply for a job. I review C.V.'s regularly and those with spelling errors, bad punctuation and poor syntax are discounted at once. A general malaise in this country.

The government still passes the " record pass rate in exams" mantra with a straight face though.

Reminds me of the "Top Tip" in Viz magazine.

I always used to nip my brother when he used the word "kinda" instead of "kind of". Imagine my horror when, on an episode of Countdown, a contestant said "i've got a 5.... kinda", and it was given the all clear. I felt like an anus.

I am quite amused by people complaining about poor usage of spelling and grammar, whilst typing in half-arsed English and using grammatically bankrupt sentences.

Anyway, back on topic; I personally feel this forum isn't very friendly, even to those of us who aren't just asking for cheats. Some of the regulars here seem to think they're something special because fruit machines are their expertise! Hence, despite having been registered here for over a year and reading the boards at least a few times a week, I have less than 20 posts to my name. I find it easier to just read, thanks to some peoples' tones.

I realise that (more recently) some regulars have been 'abrasive' to say the least, but I'd still say that the 'core' or 'heart' of FC is a pleasant place to come/go (which ever way you look at it!)

From my first post here, I have never received any abuse from any members - even those who have caused trouble, tend to react sensibly if you talk to them sensibly. Even if, at times, I've felt that I've been patronising. There are always times that you will get the random poster who enjoys a bit of 'You're all ****ing ***ts.' But even if I say so myself, I think that all the mods here are pretty good at 'fixing' the situations.

The one thing I've always said about the medium of 'type' or 'text' is that it is so easily misinterpreted. When someone is talking face to face - you read the expression as well as hear the words. Not so easy to do via a keyboard. ;)

Enjoy yourself here, there's no reason not too... ;)
