PLaying Live- A few questions

Post by Dibble »

Right basically I played in a live £5 rebuy a few weeks ago. After battling through the field of 120 people I make it to the final 9 player table (although rather short stacked after getting sucked out on by a small stack) with 15k in chips. At this stage the blinds are 8k/4k. The first hand I look and see kq suited. Not a premium hand but being on the button I was going to push. Everyone folds around to me and I push all in at which point the casino dealer "accidently" takes my cards from behind the line and throws them into the muck pile. Apparently my chips have to stay in the pot and I have no hand to go all in with. The big blind calls the additional 7k and wins with Jack high (despite flopping top two). I was amazed that this ruling stood, and was really pissed to be awarded 60 quid for my efforts. Top prize was £1400!!!

PLayed this week and obviously kj was no match for my aa so I left within the rebuy stages. Played some £2 //£50 min cash games and I have never played on such a loose table. Only got involved in half a dozen hands and still made over £200. The player on my right was hitting a lot of flops and by the end of the 4 hours we were playing he had managed to turn his inital £50 into £2100.....unreal!

Are all casino cash games this loose?

usually. They are weird things, casino poker nights.. you get alot of 'regulars' there who form cliques, and get aggressive if you consistently beat them. Cue snide comments, playing together etc.. ruining the spirit of the game.

Also, when you are in running to win a major prize, you get pressured into forming prize-split pacts with the other runners. If you refuse... well, more of the same.

Of course, this could just be my localised experience. But it is my experience of casino poker.
