yuck.

i was on a stag do in bournemouth over the weekend and nobody had ever got more than 1200. it is a pity that the only machines i could find were titboxes but between the titty bars, paintball and casinos i didn't really have the time to explore.

anyway, highlights were 2081, 2005 and another word for which, Ernest, can i request [sic]. i realise it has been got before but TRANQUILLITIES is NOT a word and i am shouldering the duties of a crusading linguistic guerrilla.

i will PM the tale of the tape to Cecil.

On my way out to Heathrow yesterday and a quick 50p dapple on WU in the boozer in Paddington- modest hacked 1750ish clearance and thought this'll show the regulars but to my surprise only 18th on top scores. Then realised that Paddington is where you get the train to Oxford from

Although actually scores seemed to be mainly foreign sounding pseudonyms.

Another member of this board had clearly had a dabble on the space invaders thing but strangely things like Hex paid.

All those names belong to 'Squelch' - apart from the VBOBs that were topping that scoreboard (I presume 8) ).

Some gruelling campaigns were fought on foreign soil today, under prying enemy eyes:

an Old-WU 1940 finally put paid to 10-clearance-STEVE at The Wheatsheaf near London Bridge, with regulars regularly poking their noses in en route...

...At Hamilton Hall, a Text Tiles session drew an all-too-interested observer (almost certainly the unchallengedly incumbent KATO) who helpfully observed that I should 'try typing in longer words' before I got my act together to top his 8800 with a 9600.

I presume that's me Hornby - I was there on Sunday morning when nothing I tried was paying (I didn't bother with Hex though).

Got a new PB today - 2086 (WUGM) in the Old Ship in Lee on Solent. Highest scoring word was a mere AMAZEMENT which rather torpedoes my (long abandoned) strategy of going for a one of the peaceful/puzzling words and then bodging a clearance...

Well done jonesy. In the meantime, EWQ I know it's not the prettiest of words but please could you add my QUIZZICALITIES to the WUGM top words list on the website, details earlier in this thread. (I know I promised some email/PM with other qualifying scores but I've been on holidays recently and haven't bothered yet).

I played a WUGM in deepest Wales on Saturday where £1, £2, £3 and £4 were at circa 520, 570, 660 and 775 points respectively. This was by far the kindest pay structure I had ever seen - anyone seen better than this?
