Best Mobile phone deals

Post by admin »

My contract has just expired, so im looking to get a new phone. Anyone know any good deals / websites?

I dont use the mobile all that much, so im looking for the cheapest tariff possible.

Looking on the 02 website, I can get a free sony w850 or a samsung d900 on a 12 month contract for £20 a month. Seems good value to me, but before I order just wondered if there are any better deals to be had.

Oh and which is best, the w850 or the d900?

Cheers!

Go for the Sony - best battery life. A bloke in my office has a Samsung and it seems to need charging twice a day! ;)

Mike, make sure you haggle people!

I'm coming to the end of my 18 month contract with 02. I had the ericsson w800, and got 100 mins and 300 texts for £19 a month. Can't believe i've had it since October 2005!

Now my housemate has just got 500 mins and 500 texts from O2 for £20 a month. How'd he do it? Bought the Sun, found loads of mobile phone deals in there. Rang up O2 and threatened to cancel his contract because he'd found a much better offer. After some bartering on the phone, he managed to get 02 to match the deal in the paper! No arsing about with cashback etc, just a straight 500/500 deal for £20, pretty much unrivalled. I'm about to do the same myself in a week or two. 8)

i have kept my tariff since 2001, only pay £12.50 a month with enough free calls & texts for what i need. but i would recommend o2, purely because the company is British-owned and i believe in supporting the economy. i also drive an aston martin. (joke)
nobody ever wins on those things.

i thought O2 was owned by Telefonica of Spain?

even so 02 is def the best network for signal and call quality agreed, im on vodafone student deal at the moment which gives me unlimited texts which i do use more than calls anyways...just done get the 3g option as that signal is none exsistant but still insists on looking for it 24/7 which rapes the battery..

I too have this 500/500 combo, but for £25 which is still an amazing deal for a network other than 3. And yeah, I am almost certian that O2 is owned overseas (what makes you think it is british anyway-cos it ised to be BT Cellent?).

I also think the flex-t tariffs are very good otherwise.

Those newspaper deals are good, but often are with a third party, ie: you wont be dealt with by O" in the event of a problem, but a third party like Singlepoint. I have had SUCH! torrid times with such companies in the past that I will only ever have a phone that comes with customer service direct from the network.

In terms of good deals, http://www.onestopphoneshop.co.uk often has some good deals (though isnt nearly as good now as when they first strarted up, or just o2.co.uk as their online tariffs are better than the high street ones they offer.
