cash and mouse QPS £25 - MUX ERROR 31 ROW

Post by d88ksy »

Hi there,
i have obtained a QPS cash and mouse £25.00 today and evrything seems to be working fine apart from a persistent MUX ERROR 31 - ROW and a very annoying alarm going off,i was wondering if you folks had any idea as how to resolve this??
I have had a brief scan over google and it seems to refer to lamp defects of some description, all the lights on this machine are working properly, unfortunately after some prolonged checkin inside the machine now the alarm yes/no message is coming up first before the MUX message.
I really dont know what im doing inside a machine so im loathed to touch anything else without recieving some expert advice.

Any help would be much appreciated

Regards

it is a lamp fault
a very difficult fault to diagnose.

every lamp holder has a diode in it.
one of them could be faulty.

or it could be a wiring fault, plastic stripped off the wire and it shorting out on the metal bits of the cabinet, look round about buttons, sometimes the door locking bar can snag the lamp and switch cables.

or it could be the distribution board (top left of machine behine the plastic cover)

could even be a faulty mpu.

mux alarms are the most dreaded faults of all...

if i disconnected both the lamp rows (P + Q) would that affect the overall running of the machine/fix the problem ??

Thx for your reply, problem seems serious, will i need an engineer etc to look at it or can we get it done over the internet/myself ? only paid 40 notes for it so not looking to break the bank

cheers again

well u would have no lamps at all.

i reckon you will need an engineer to look at it, and he might struggle and spend a fair bit time on it.

did u look beneath the buttons on the bottom glass for damaged wires?

On your mpu you will have columns and rows, and the shorted transistor is on the rows, if you have a book it will tell you what lamps and what colour wire is on row 31,follow that coloured wire back to the plug and test that transistor for a short,
Failing this if you have know book you will just have to test all your transistors on that plug until you find the shorted one
