New Eliminator

Post by Topical2009 »

I see the old tradition of not proof-reading the questions has been carried over to the new incarnation. This made life especially difficult when I tackled a new round called "Mis-spelt Words" and immediately found a mis-spelt word which wasn't. The manufacturers will be disappointed with that. Or, as they would apparently put it, disapointed. Honestly, it's ironic enough to have its own line in an Alanis Morissette song.

P.S. I believe it's traditional to make at least one spelling mistake in any internet post complaining about spelling, so I look forward to someone spotting mine.

Ironically (and most piquantly) I reckon the word you have failed to spell correctly is ... misspelt - it doesn't need the hyphen:

Not according to my OED (I checked...oh how carefully I checked). And yes, when I first saw the name of the round come up, I thought to myself "I'm sure that's not how I'd spell misspelled...er, misspelt...I mean mis-spelt" (in fact all three are considered valid, as far as I can see). Bloody hell, it's a minefield, this.

I can spell pretty well but sometimes it looks like I can't as my typing fucking sucks and I get lazy with it.

disapointed - disappointed. If i slow down and use my brain a little I'm not too bad with spelling and grammar, but most of the time I can't be arsed.
He isn't right of course, he just thinks he is.

Bet it wasn't with Hard Sums in Round 10 :)

(For those who haven't come across it yet, the new version has a round which will favour anyone who knows their 76 times table...)
