I once shot a daddy long legs with a bb gun, as I'm not all that keen on them either. Felt really guilty afterwards - all that remained was a small dent where the ball had hit the wall and a leg - the bloody thing exploded.

I do the same with spiders, too. I get all caught up in the thrill of the chase and pretending to be Rambo or whoever then have a crisis of conscience straight afterwards.

It's mad. You get all excited about 'being a big man' shooting things up but at the end of the day, you're shooting insects with a toy gun and you're doing it because you're actually scared of them
Still kicking about.

And you also have to watch out for ricochets, otherwise you'll have a very embarrassing obituary.

I just use a mothbat/mothracket or a dyson to get rid of moths and spiders...

Can't stand them.

I wouldn't like to empty the waste bag after youve sucked up spiders and stuff! eek.

Doom 3's main way of scaring me senseless was the trites and the ticks.

Was going to post a pic, but looking on google images was freaking me out!

I feel for you, mjd. I also absolutely HATE daddy-long-legs.

I think I detest them most because they're so clumsy and unpredictable. You know that things like dragonflies will nimbly avoid you, whereas fecking craneflies are quite happy to blunder into your face. Horrible.

I heard a tale once that a daddy long-leg's venom was more poisonous than that of a black widow, but because they've got crap jaws, they just can't inject it into anything worthwhile.

Gospel or bollocks?

It's not true i'm afraid. Another urban legend....

'There is an urban legend stating that Daddy long-legs spiders have the most potent venom of any spider, but that their chelicera (fangs) are either too small or too weak to puncture human skin'

'In 2004 the Discovery Channel show MythBusters set out to test the daddy long-legs myth (season 1, episode 13 "Buried in Concrete"). After measuring the spider's fangs at approximately 0.25 mm (average human skin thickness is about 0.10 mm) the show's host was apparently bitten, although the bite produced little more than a mild short-lived burning sensation. [3] This appears to confirm the suspicion that pholcids can penetrate human skin, but that their venom is practically harmless to humans. Additionally, recent research has shown that pholcid venom is actually relatively weak in its effects on insects as well'

Damn. I'll have to stop scaring people with that story.

Oh well.

Did you know that duck's quacks don't echo, and nobody knows why?

At least when a Spider is in the room its its on the wall/floor/ceiling, and when you distance yourself your safe.

DLLegs fly fast, all over the place, they are hiddeous things. What was god thinking when he created those!
