Possibly found the local pub of Dave of DAVEJON today, whilst bobbing solo for the first time in Watford. It was at the Escourt Tavern that DAVE had all top scores, with a 1709 leading. There were also some 6000s on TextTiles as DNA, suggesting the use of a temporary replacement partner for Jon.
Anyway, both leading scores were topped with barely any faff: 8670 on TT and 1975 and 1769 on WU (first two efforts). Also pulled out an ultralow WORLD RECORD1274 39 word clearance to top MOPED's attempts to whitewash the 'most words' board. Asked the landlady if she knew 'DAVE' personally, as I explained that he is 'my nemesis.' She laughed.
Talking of 39 worders, I found one in the Chicago Rock Cafe: 1334 by VALLYSALLY, which equalled the world record for an hour and a half. Impressive.
Other scores:
The Flag: 1849
Walkabout: 1783
Revolution: 2036 (TRANQUILLISED) - over 2000 solo yet again
Lloyds: 1679 (8530 on Text Tiles)
Chicago Rock Cafe: 1770
Yates: 1747
Druids: 1815
Wellington Arms: 1864, 1844 (beating 1836 by local hero 'QWERTY,' who had a few clearances)
All in all, a fantastic day's quizzing with an impressive net profit of £84 to boot.
there may be more than one DAVE but there is only one THA HATHO (he is not very good yet though).
COMPARISONS victory, marylebone
1860 sun, c.g.
1894 parkview, ealing

Is that all from your twin peaks of excellence (Word Up and Word Cube) or do you play some of the other games as well? I didn't think the word games were worth more than a quid or two nowadays, or can you still get a decent payout from them on a 'virgin' ItBox?

Yep - those two and Text Tiles (which usually pays 4 or 5 quid). I can also make profit on Word Wall, Sum Up, Brainteaser and Mah Jong II, if I find them.
WU can pay out nicely (5 to 10 quid) if you slap down a 1800+ first or second time.
Went to St Albans today.
The 'highlight' was finding an ancient blue-cover itbox at the local Spoons with 9 scores by BEN (home turf Southend]WR[/color] on Text Tiles - 9970 - and a 1933 WU. Was tired after yesterday's Watfordian exploits. (Still topped all WU and TT boards in St.A. tho')
Continuing the theme of usurping Dave/Jon at their home venue (and, in general):
New WR by VB, Fotherz and EWQ: 2318 at "The Court", Tottenham Court Rd
This means that, for the first time, Dave/Jon are no longer top of any of the three national boards.
The 2318 was attained by first building Tranquillizer very quickly, and then taking several solid 100+ pt words, finally setting up a nice tidy clearance.
Some selected additional highlights from the outing:
*: Result of a narrowly failed attempt to make a record-smashing Counterrevolutionaries 858 (22); successfully built all but the first CO which was almost in place but one column out... :x
**: NC = Non-Clearance. The last word was EGGS. In an attempt to be stylish and somehow save time unnecessarily, Bob used the 'help' button to try and enter this last word. Of course, 'help' found EGG, leaving us 509 points worse off. This was not the first time Bob had Bobbed up a clearance in that exact way. Dick. However, we graciously forgive his ineptitude by amnesty in celebration of the new WR score. But still.... dick.
Tomorrow I will add all these to the national board, as well as some good words and scores Dave/Jon had got at the Court and not reported to us.
very impressive outing gents. i dare say it was sweetsweet to lay down the record in DJ's 'hood. aside from the obviously impressive number, DISCOMBOBULATION is a gem; no obvious tags apart from the BOB in the middle.
just had a look at the COUNTER~ words and ~REVOLUTIONARIES is the longest but there are ten others which would break Fotherz's current long word record.
anyway bravo.
