Wheres this at??

Theres a small(ish) hardcore event in newmarket tomorrow night which i will be going to, probably end up DJ'ing at some point too, as one of my best mates is doing a set, so judging by how totally hammered he used to get when we were doing parties a few years ago, i may be guested in, so im taking my vinyl just in case!

Yeah, got to be IMO, all these CD decks and mp3 mixers that beat match everything for you pffftt, nah, got to be a set of technics 12/10s, ortofon concorde needles and vinyl, the proper way to mix music, the ONLY way!

Yeah man, bring on the ortofan concordes. Vinyl has soul, high end treble frequencies energise the cerebral fooblions within the brain hemispheres. CD DJs may have more technical wizzzzardry but the high end fizz is dulled down.
I use a couple of Technics-PX1ZZ2 rotored concordes on groovetex with my vinyl classics comprising of acid hard bass house and tri gangly hippy fuzion retakes. I've done sets with Jazzman Spacehound in the pits back in '99 slamming vinyl and big rockin beats on.....yeah you got me, I couldn't even mix the ingredients for a Madeira cake.
However I think I would be shit hot at both vinyl and CD DJ given time.

Oh yes, HRK, loving the banter, always a pleasure.

Yeah, my mate first tried teaching me to mix when i was 14, so 12 years ago now, had the basics sussed after a month or so with on and off practicing, them my mate got shor tof money so i bought his old soundlab dlp belt driven decks and mixer off him for £30 with some records chucked in too and it all started from there.

After about 3 years using them another mate had a set of technics sl12/10 mk2s for sale for £100 with needles, i managed to haggle him down to £70 and sold my old belt drives for £50, so my technics only really cost me £20, plus those needles are fooooookin dear as well, just looked on ebay, these are the ones i have, although i only paid £60 for 2 complete cartridges when i got mine i hope to never ever break a stylus, as those are dear enough on their own!

If i wanted to buy the whole things now then it really does start getting expensive!

So, fingers crossed i never break one, although i have a spare scratching stylus plus two stanton 505sk's as spares but they are pretty old, plus the sound quality isn't as good with the stantons.

If im honest, i don't think i will ever part with my decks and records now as i have had them for so long i almost grew up with them so i dunno what i would do in my spare time if i didnt have them.

I came home early anyway, coz it was crap.

Pretty much like a village hall party, much like you would find for a birthday or something, but the cheesy 80's disco replaced with a load of people with hoods and baseball caps, playing speeded up house music and calling it hardcore (which it isnt) whilst someone attempts to freestyle rap over the top of it which made it sound even worse, if thats possible, plus their sound rigs were set up SO badly it was just stupid, it was like sitting in a barry boys car lol, about 15x more bass than needed so it drowned out the mid range and the treble so all you heard was a squeak of vocals or whatever everytime there was a gap in the beat, not a good sound at all.

And then after about an hour of this just bearable music, they started playing jungle, which i fookin hate with a passion, so, i decided, its goin home time!
