JPM BIG NITE OUT power problem

Hi again everyone I hope someone has some advice for me the machine is JPM Big Nite Out club. I have had the machine working today and even played any way it was unplugged so I could use a drill now whenever I try to power up the machine tries to start, a twitch of the reels and sometimes a noise but then no power I have been doing this by pulling the plug at the back which I should add has been repaired 1 side of the plastic slot is broken off and the socket is held in place with a screw any suggestions welcome thanks Chris

Not seen a JPM machine of this era yet that didn't have that bit of plastic broken ~ crap design really. Most people don't even bother with a bodge, but just connect the 2 cables together loose inside the cabinet. Bit of a pain, but hey ho.
Anyway, with regards to your main problem, lets get the easy stuff outta the way first ~ are all the LEDs on the power supply illuminated ? If not, unscrew the relevant fuse, which has probably blown, and replace it with one of correct specifications.
Out of interset, I've seen people accidentally, and unknowingly, knock the fuses sufficiently enough to pop 'em out, whilst clumsily trying to make the connection between power supply and mains lead.

Hi Reelman I believe I have seen all the led's glimmer but go off the same as the machine I cant say they light properly maybe it is to quick to tell I have just been and checked the connections again now I have all the lights on the psu glowing and the led's in the reels on but no action I am beginning to think the problem is elsewhere any suggestions gratefully received thanks Chris

If all light illuminate on the power supply, and stay illuminated ~ not sure if this is the case with yours, then the PSU is probably fine.
If all the lights on the CPU have illuminated, and those on the reels too, yet it still doesn't initialise, I suspect the CPU itself is faulty. Easiest way to test is to replace with a known good one, but appreciate that may not be easy for you.
Alternatively, it could be something very silly, like the programe card not fully seated properly in the CPU ~ essentially, everything will power up, but nothing knows what to do, if that makes sense? They can easily become dislodged, but not fall out completely, especially if the machine's been moved recently.

Hi again everyone the led lights behind the 4 main reels are on all the time as are the psu, on the impact board there is one led that I can see that has status written below that is out, does this make room for more suggestions I have removed and replaced the program cards that seem solid but I am beginning to think it is the main board has anyone got a known good one or is the machine a scrapper thanks Chris

I have to agree, it's looking more like a duff CPU, but you won't need to scrap it, as there's plenty about, and it is also possible to get them repaired.
No doubt someone will join in and offer you one, but you could put out a request in the Buy/Sell section, once you're convinced it really is the CPU.

I think I will hold back from looking for a cpu until I can get confirmation that is the problem, hopefully a few more people will give there diagnosis that will not involve a process of expensive elimination thanks Chris

what condition is the battery in?

The battery has no signs of leakage but the fact that the LED on the board is not lighting gives cause for concern and makes me think it may not be getting power, how much would I expect to pay for an impact board and are there different types or all the same I attempted to show pics but I will not know if it has succeeded until this is posted thanks everyone Chris

It appears to have worked the LED I am talking about can be seen in the fourth picture near the top of the board slightly left of the centre thanks again Chris

That battery does not look good.
Power off and remove the card on the right a take a close up of the it,
it looks shagged from what I can see of it,
so it might of fu*ked the cpu on the card

BTW if the reel leds are on then power (12v) must be going through the main board, and the LED on the board should be flashing - but only once the cpu has come out of reset. (the main CPU is on the same card as mentioned above)

Hi again and you are right it is f&*ked I was looking in completely the wrong place anyway now we know what the problem is what can I do to cure it it may seem hard to believe but this machine played last week I switched off the next time I turned it on no go Thanks everyone and please forgive my stupidity Chris

Need photo of damage really - cut the battery off 1st,
might be fixable given that it was running - damage might not be that bad.

Hi again I have just reread your last message and you say cut the battery off I really don't feel confident enough to do this without damaging it more I will not bore you with the details but I have a medical condition that affects my hands for anything delicate, would it be possible for me to send it to you I will of course pay all expenses and what you would require for doing it, many thanks Chris
