Word game lovers...

Post by ggdr »

...ought to make a pilgrimage to the ItBox in the bowling alley in Bishop's Stortford. The absolutely bizarre line-up includes Cryptic Clues, Word Wobble, Word Blox, Word Wall and Text Tiles. Also featured are that rubbish Donkey Derby game of a year or two back, a slightly rejigged version of Alien Attack called Quiz Attack, and some newer games (Eliminator).

Also, a great overheard conversation in a pub yesterday from a Welsh female teacher:
WFT: There's a gorgeous boy in our school. He's 14 but I love him. I mean I actually genuinely am in love with him. Is that wrong?
WFT's friend: (slightly overlong pause while she tries to not offend her mate) Um, no...
Me (in my head): Second opinion: YES.

That weird hybrid of old and new ItBox line-ups (with no version number) has popped up in a few bowling alleys.

I saw another weird one in a Wetherspoon's place in Bristol at the weekend - it claimed to be version 67 but a lot of the games had simply been deleted, with nothing but a blank space in the place where they should have been.

Anything has to be better than the standard ItBox 67 line-up, mind you - that really is utterly awful!

I don't mind Going For Gold, or whatever it's called. Obviously it's no Family Fortunes, but I've had a win of about £8 on it. It still has the ability to restrict the number of gold/silver coins it will throw at you though, which means a big win is never too likely. Plus I'm with Dmac on Parrott - when the game's in the mood, it's a very nice thing indeed.

The sad thing is,the lad in question probably already has a couple of kids. Here is an extract from the new fairy liquid advert, updated to reflect modern society.
"Mummy why are your hands so soft?"
"Because i'm only 12,now shut the fuck up and eat your pot noodle!"

I had my first £20 on Friday night. Might have been more, but had to content with some drunken f*ckers beside the machine who at point started pressing the screen, which meant I had to an immediate emergency lock-in. Was five moves away from £30 and £50 was a further five beyond that.
