MOTD is just a rip off of Football Manager Quiz with loads of unnecessary extra bits slowing it down. (Isty did you see your namecheck?)
Agreed. Cum Grano Salis.

With a pinch of salt, or an adult version of Wallace and Gromit?

A pinch of salt. Any decent player who has had even a cursory glance at this can tell it's no Football Manager.

Sounds intriguing. Haven't seen a single one of these in London yet (although haven't been playing too much) - sort it out GWHL!

had a bit of time between lunch and a meeting today. so went back to nearest paragon5 i have. i am quite chummy with the publican there because she plays the SWP too. anyway thought i'd look in on T&F. on the first two games i crapped out by being a klutz at javelin. i'd reasoned that DMAC's namecheck is more likely to be in the skill events but i haven't noticed anything. still, i'm looking forward to it.
anyway, third go i decided to play it just on the Qs. eventually i had enough points for the target and in the endgame (via two fluky guesses) got to the top silver tier and it offered me a decent prize.

if you don't negotiate the tough endgame questions, do you get a consolation prize or just game over?

it does seem to have echoes of one or two old itbox games which had some admirers. but T&F seems to have some playability too and if it reckons ISTENEM should be king of the world you can't complain.

but it does take forever, i was 15 minutes late for my meeting.
nobody ever wins on those things.

Can't say I was ever a Subbuteo whiz. Probably better at MOTD already though.

If you look closley at the BLT character and think you may of spotted him somewhere else, You'd be right.

Look at Cops & Robbers. I noticed he appears as a plod and a guy with a monocle. Cheapskates!!

I can confirm the namecheck and it's actually a "tribute" of a sort to three of us - the question is "What is the name of Exeter City's mascot?" (a veiled reference to grecian of this parish surely?) and the answers are:

- something like "Alex the Blade"
- Nil Satis :o ops:
- Istenem Fizzboy

I was sober at the time I saw this so I'm pretty sure the "right" answer is as I've noted here, but that of course isn't anything like the right answer (which is in fact Grecian the Lion - no relation to grecian of this parish!). As for "Fizzboy", I assumed that was some insulting slang term but after a quick Google that doesn't seem to be the case.

In the end I suppose it's nice to know that they (the guys who write the questions for the various games) are watching!

Are Fizz not the games company who make WU/WS?

Well spotted Grecian - it is indeed! I thought there was some link there when I read Nil's post, but couldn't quite make the connection! ;)

As at July 20th, 2009 (the 40th anniversary of the original moonwalker doing his stuff - irrelevant to the matter here I know, just couldn't help pointing it out), Big Fizz appears to have been hacked somewhat:

http://www.bigfizz.com/index_oops.htm

(This picture will obviously change when the 'dust' has been cleared.)

I wonder if the hacker's mess was visible, i.e. defacement & another entry for Zone-H.

If so, then possibly a WUx0r smearing their SESQUIPEDALIAN lexipoop all over the home page in a twistedly Souperior offering to their Godhead. Either that or Cyber-Muslims.

The thought of a عريف مسابقة radical vengeance dream has suddenly entered my head. Sleeptime I think.

I finally found some new issue Paragons in the wild this weekend, outside of London mind you, so obviously this is depending to a large extent on local suppliers. Have to say I was on a bit of a "time and motion" troop round the town, so I confined my play on the new titles to a quick bash at the start of the day, and can't really comment at all definitively on them yet. But I will say that, although it's very good fun, I can't see the Track and Field game appealing too much to good players - it just takes far too long, and it's quite possible to get 10 minutes into the game only to have it kipper you with a string of spoilers as you near the target (as happened to me). Unless I'm missing something I can't see that appealing on a "time and motion" basis, but I'll have a proper look once they arrive in central London.

Played one today. "Cops and Robbers". First time it had been played. Offered three keys to "Millionaire's Row" straight away. Result...Er Er computer says "No". Negotiated the £1.00 question. £2.00 question complete gobbledygook. Hit an answer surprise surprise not the right one. Put another £4.00 + the £1.00 win to try to entice it back. No chance! Ended up taking a £5.00 win on the count up with some help from a couple of £1.00 coins which appeared on the line....

Absolutely gutted doesn't come close! £20.00 out of C and R are as rare as rocking horse s**t anyway.....Oh well another will be along in a couple of months.
