JCM Note Validator in a Bellfruit cabinet

Post by reelman »

Hi to all you clever guys out there,
I've recently aquired a Bellfruit club machine, with a JCM note acceptor, which I'd like to fit an get working.
I am quite familiar with the NV8s, and how to clear them down, using the Dil switches, but I have no idea how to fit this JCM and get it running.
The machine is a snakes and ladders, and came out of the factory with de-reg software. It has the JCM loom already in place, but everytime I hook the validator up, nothing happens. I have also tried entering the standard BNV Key code, to no avail.
I am not even sure what the Dil settings should whilst setting it up, or once set up.
Hope some can help, or perhaps even mail me a manual for one of these ?
Cheers

assuming the note reader powers up you will be able to hear it...

power off awp
dil switch on note reader 1,2,3,4,5,6, ON 7,8, OFF
power on m/c switch dil switch 1 OFF (red led will flash)
power off

all switches off except number 3

power on m/c
enter bnv number (last 6 digts of serial number)

Thanks ever so much. I'll have a crack at it this weekend, and let you know how I get on.

Hi there,
I tried getting this note acceptor up and running using your instructions, and believe I followed them to the letter, but didn't have any success.

The Note acceptor powers up within a few seconds of the machines being turned on. There is a clear whirring sound which itself lasts for very short while.

I believe I followed your insructions well, and just in case you got your OFF and ON back to front, as the OFF is down on the Dils, which one would have thought would be ON, like on a light switch, I have even tried reversing your instuctions, i.e. finishing up with all switches ON except No. 3

Your advice seems to "fall over" at quite an early stage, as I do not get the flashing red LED, although it does illuminate at one stage. Whatever I do, at the very end, I still get the same "BNV no Response" message

Any clues ?

The only things I can think of, that might make a difference are, you said to power off the AWP, but it's a Club machine. I wouldn't have thougt that would make a difference though.
A Bellfruit manual for another club machine suggests that the key on JCM note acceptors cannot be changed, so 123456 should always work. I must admit though, I didn't try this key number in conjunction with your advice, as I ran out of time.
I don't suppose it is something silly like, as you said it was the last 6 digits of the serial numer, enering these numers in reverse order, which I did not do ?
Whilst I am asking, do you have some sort of pdf document for these, as I cannot see for the life of me how they split, or come apart to retrieve stuck notes. It is dead easy on all the Innovative acceptors.
Thanks for all your kind help.

Any advice gratefully received

The above should work, provided the acceptor is cctalk.
did the acceptor come with the machine or did you buy it separately?

Try the above, and if the red led don't flash then I might not be cctalk
And I've not seen one that wasn't 12345

Thanks for that. Again, I shall give it a go during the week, perhaps even tomorrow, and let you know how I get on.
I must say though, I am a little confused by the 2 seemingly contradictory statements ~ you also say to enter the last 6 digits of the serial number, but then add, you've not seen one that's not 123456.
However, I do like the idea, and think it is the answer to my problem ~ the removal of the program card, as is sometimes required when clearing down NV8s. This now sounds very promising. Thanks ever so much.
In answer to your question, I bought the machine privately, and it was already fitted with the JCM, as well as the loom, steelwork etc. The seller assured me that it worked, which it didn't. I presume he somehow lost the connection between the two, and that the machine just needs to be re-connected to the JCM now. Hopefully this will sort it.
Thanks for your help.
Will be in touch again soon

Sorry for the confusion, I forgot to edit that bit.
Just try 123456, if that don't work then try the serial - but I've not seen a JCM that wasn't 123456

OK, I could not wait, and had a go at it tonight.
Whilst we're not quite there yet, we're certainly moving in the right direction.
Again, I have followed your instructions to the letter, removing the program card etc etc.
We've now obtained the elusive flashing red LED, and at this point, I thought we were home and dry.
However, when entering the BNV key (123456) I first of all get a message saying "Key Stored" which built my hopes up, but this is shortly followed by "BNV No Response"
Just in case, I then tried the same procedure using the last 6 digits of the JCM serial number, but got exactly the same result.
Any ideas ?

It's taken me a while to get round to it, but having tried umpteen times to get this JCM acceptor recognised by the host machine, I've finally decided that it must be a dud.
Having aquired a known good unit, and fitting it using the instructions provided by psxcity, it has now been accepted 100% by the host machine. Out of interest, it was the 6 digits of the serial number, and not 123456 as he suggested, but either way, I just wanted to say how grateful I am to psxcity for the advice he has given me.
Best regards
