gambler or pro player?
I rarely play shite for the sake of it, i only stick to what i know and most days i make a profit, i've never played randoms or roulette, except for the lucky 8 thing which was very profitable, i always take a set amount out with me so i know how i've done on the day, doing very well lately too.

of course we all have the occasional losing day , its the nature of the game, i accept it as part and parcel of the profession ,,,,,, it is as you are right in saying at its core a gamble .
but even a 30, 40 , or even a ton loss day , where nothing you do goes right , should only occur once every two months aprox , and as long as you can write it off and not try to chase it ( which is where your judgement is clouded ) its hardly worth talking about.
as for accounts ,,,, never kept any ,,,,, my m8 ady does though , and writes in his folders all bandit locations just like sir ratty.
each to there own , i spose.
anyhow i truly feel for the 2people so far that have ticked the domestos option .

Something i have always argued is when is gambling no longer gambling?
For example is something where you know you have a 99% chance of winning a gamble??
Some people slightly less enlightened than me think that playing a fruit machine is a gamble, even if it was the simplest quickest emptier ever it's still a gamble, even though you have a theoretical 100% chance of profit.
Where do you draw the line?

Not really aslong as my bank account increases im not all that bothered.pokerpete wrote:As a former poker pro I get a slightly different view on this.
One big difference between Fruit machine and poker pros is that you guys are a lot more solitary.
I would be sitting in a room with 100+ players 4 times a week (most of whom were recreational players obviously)
How ever many players I'd speak to, no-one was ever losing. They were either doing well, making a small profit or at very worst, "breaking even"
I remember asking people about records several times in the past and most said they went out with X and came back with Y. That was all they needed to know.
Unless you keep detailed records on every session on every machine, I'm always dubious about peoples claims in terms of profitability. Don't get me wrong, I know some are making a profit, but I've yet to speak to a single player who logs every £ staked against every £ returned. Wouldn't be that hard to do.
Anyone keep records like that? If you're going to use the word "professional" that implies some level of organised, methodical, work-like mind set.

Gary.. what you hitting per week now mate.... no need to reply via this thread......nor in's and out's... just curious really... weve known each other best part of what... 3 + years on line now.....
We never chat any more.... and as i'm almost free of the game now... just wondering what the new generation was earning?
Feel free to no comment.. but i'm sure the older players that have family/kids and backed off from full time punting would be just as interested as me.......

that's tough , because everybody's hours are different , i work every other day or so , because im married , so its give un take ,,,,,,,, a lot of single slotters can devote more time ,,,,,,,,
the last 4 times i have definitely covered a grand ,,,,,,,,, had 324 monday ,,,,,,,,,
but some weeks , i cant make 200 in 3 full days , rare though ,,,,,,,,,
its all about how much time and dedication you can put in .
anfield recons he makes a grand a week regularly , and i dont doubt him .
but to do it every week ,,,,,,,, week in week out , is a bit of a tall order.
you would have to have 3 good separate runs , and recycle them every 3 days , 9.am start ( train stations hotels , breakfast pubs ) till probably 2am if your playing services nightclubs etc.
then its possible to take more than a grand a week regularly , but you would have no other life for socialising , rest etc ,,,,,,,,
im happy with the hours i work , and some weeks i do exceptional , some are crap.
but if anyone tells you they have made a grand plus consistently week in week out for the last 12 months , either has some well hidden next level info , has no other life to speak of , or is simply full of shit .
ive had weeks where i havent made dick ( rare but happens )

Totally agree with trayhop about the dedication/work you put in having a huge bearing on your profits - I now have like 4 different routes which are easily interchangable and my profits have rocketed since I put a lot more work checking pubs.
Usually I'm out at 8:30-9am if I'm on a route (spoons etc) and about 11am if I'm checking - back at anything between 4pm and midnight depending on what I'm upto in the evening/how far I'm travelling. As far as the magic 1k a week mark, yeah I've hit this pretty much every week in 2009, but I do work solely on my own.
On that subject, whilst I believe that you are pro if you solely live off your fruit based income, I think that many pros are unprofessional in many ways - such as going halves/thirds with other players on a route. Why on earth would you want to do this? Especially if your playing partner doesn't drive. I understand the need for social interaction I guess, but when you work out how much this social interaction costs you over the year, surely it's not worth it?!
