trophy

Post by Istenem »

after a pyrrhic defeat yesterday and abject disappoinment at there being no physical prize i've decided to buy some sort of trophy for the WU champion of the world. but what is the most fitting award?

a) TROPHY: traditional but expensive to get one which would be becoming of a champion.
b) BELT: appropriately naff but overly twee
c) PLAQUE: advantage of engraving previous holders/challengers/scores but not very imposing
d) a.n. other

please vote (even if just to berate me for being monumentally sad)

You could always get a star named after the undisputed champion?

Then in millions of years time, when some strange alien is exploring the outer reaches of our cosmos, they'll happen upon the star "Vajinal Bob / Unknown Pseudonym / Fortherz / Ernest W. Quality Star of Word Up Excellence and Superiority" and think to themselves "what the funk are those boys on?"

I thought this was all decided before: the title is signified by a blue-riband belt, i.e. a belt made of glued together Blue Riband wrappers.

If you think that's sad...

My friend and I both really enjoy playing the fighting game Tekken 5 on the Playstation... so much so, that we decided to commission our own bespoke trophy, based on one of the characters in the game.
I am the current holder of the trophy, and since my friend has buggered off to travel round Europe in an ambulance, I am likely to remain the holder for the foreseeable future.

I say Trophy. I'll never get near it but you can put it on the machine whenever you play so people know you are da man.

i suggest a belt for the champion , so that somebody can administer a damn good thrashing to him with it in the hope that he will stop boasting about his longest word / highest score etc. In fact Word Up does not even qualify to be included in the quiz machine forum as it doesnt ask any questions!

I'd love to get involved, but people start threads about me if I do. Perhaps I need a trophy for being conservative on this thread?
Oh no, you're ok. I wear long trousers now.

Fantastic reasoning, you brainiac. Just a shame that you need to put money into a quiz machine to play it.

i am thinking that a masonic-inspired belt would be the order of the day, i have already nicked a first class pennant from FGW trains and plan to invest in many and several cheap trinkets to hang like tassels. haven't actually bought the belt yet though.
