Poker Quiz

Post by acen123 »

Ok a quick (hold'em) quiz for you:-

(1) In a muti-way pot, you have 6s7s. Flop comes 5h8c9h. As the shortest stack, you happily push the rest of your chips in with the nuts & watch with mixed feelings as the monster stack to your left re-raises all-in, & is promptly called by all other players in the hand :shock: . Hands are turned over & you quickly realise that any 2 cards that no longer leave you with the nuts on the river will see you out on your tush :| . What was the minimum number of players to the flop?

(2) In a heads-up race situation, which 2 hands would you have the best hand on the flop, but be the biggest dog to win by the river?

Short stack all-in and chip leader all in as well, then everybody calls. Thta's plain crazy. 99% of players would get out of the way, especially if it was a final table. 80- 90% of the time you would win with a straight. Chip leader is often "obliged" to take out the fish in these situations though. Depends on chip counts as well.

Really can't be arsed to work out A,

So for B

you Have
7h 3d

Flop is
7c 8c 8d

Opponent has
9c Tc

To confirm what i thought, apparently you have an EV of .667 in that position according to twodimes.net, making you a 2/1 favourite.

To make B more interesting now, what is the best EV you can get.. can anyone beat .667??

I'll look at those in more detail later.

IN the meantime, here's another poker puzzle from the Noisy Tiger pokerblog. Enjoy!

You're playing a pot with me heads up in Texas Hold 'Em. The turn card has been dealt and you currently have the best hand. However, no matter what card comes on the river, you can't win. What are the two hands and what is on the board?

ok (1)s a bit tedious i'll agree, for (2) try :-

me :- 2c2s

you :- KhQh

flop :-

TdThJh

24 outs on turn, & 26 on the river ( if turn is a blank)

Pokerstove:-

Board: Td Th Jh
Dead:

equity (%) win (%) tie (%)
Hand 1: 28.5354 % 28.08% 00.45% { 2c2s }
Hand 2: 71.4646 % 71.01% 00.45% { KhQh }

(checked against cardplayer.com's odds calculator)

i'd back only mike sexton to reel off all those river outs :P
