just watching a bit of the 2nd test and i have to say after watching him throughout the summer so far...
Monty Panesar is by far the best English sportsman for me
he trys tirelessly and even on weaker aspects of his game (fielding) is putting in 200% effort..
any others worth adding to the list?
English sportmans most deserved of his colours

what a performance...
and to think some of englands best players are still out injured..
but with play like that they will really have to fight for thier places back.
monty over giles for me.
not as handy with the bat but with a display to destroy a top order like that the aussies should be taking note

Obviously the Aussies won't prepare a pitch like that for us. But I'm with you on this one, Monty is a breath of fresh air (a finger spinner that can spin the ball).
I was at the first day at Old Trafford, and Harmison and Monty were awesome. But I think what turns Monty into the cult figure he is fast becoming is his fielding. Dammit he's bad, but it's great fun cheering him everytime he even catches a return throw from his own team mates.
Add that to the fact that he always looks (to me) like he's ready to cry and you've got a character you've got to love.
Sorry Ashley, but your time may be up in spite of your heroics against the Aussies last year.
England have a new hero with a beard and a bandana... GO MONTY!
I suppose you could add Bell to the list. Well... at least until the Aussies get hold of him and shatter his confidence again.
