Machine malfunction voids plays and credits!!
I know i know, and I actually said that to the barman, but he seemed so keen and sympathetic that I thought what the hell...I definitely think winnings on these contraptions need to be limited to 4 or 5 quid a game, then take the money out and start again.

I also hear they have had to let a number of people go.
I hear BFG are in trouble too....

for one reason and another i've had to be out of the loop for a while. anyway, i noticed a terminal with the test menu today. charley boorman's game looks very playable, not least with the next game bonus wheeze (which i have no doubt will encourage replayability from even the thickest local).

this particular mug played four games and refused a couple of small prizes without collecting a brass farthing. but i still found it to be a diversion, and whoever said i'd be thrilled by the silly subgames was quite right.

anyway, game five threw up a small peculiarity, i'm pretty sure i didn't get any cleverer or less stupid with one sip of beer but i was merrily pootling along with a 2x bonus when a suitcase bonus thing popped up out of nowhere. the case on the left said £1 and there was a closed one on the right.
obviously a pound is immaterial so i went for the other and it banked £8 which was a surprise, but 16x stake for nothing is a good reward in what was an easy game. i ended up with £6 more from the main game when i was a coward on episode last. but it wasn't a struggle at all and i'm quite sure an average punter would have got these prizes too which is a good enough payday for five minutes. so for this reason i like it: if joe schmo can get a decent prize thrown at him then it means that the people who ultimately pay us may continue to be enamoured with the game.

also had a quick go on that battleships title but i've never had much interest in such a silly premise. however, i very much enjoyed the closing animation when it goes to monochrome with affected snowing. it reminded me of an old amiga game which i used to have and the WWIIesque treatment is quite charming.
nobody ever wins on those things.

Sounds like the usual sort of aesthetic bollocks that would interest you.

That said, I too have purloined a free £5 from the aforementioned case, and much as I hate to say it, do find this game and Battleships too to be somewhat playable.

It also helps that everywhere I go to Paragons these days the punters seem to play these two a lot as well. But they lose. Which is always nice.

A mild distraction from Pub Quiz for a while whilst I investigate further.
Stupid punters. Telly all the week, screw the wife Saturday

I think I'm a reasonably intelligent sort of person and pretty impervious to gimmicks such as this, but it suckered me into replaying Battleships (after I'd won a prize) after I was offered the SUPER WEAPON - I just couldn't turn down a weapon of that size.

Then on to By Any Means and I got offered Easy Questions (again after winning a prize). Well I couldn't turn that down either, could I?
