I reflected that maybe I was wrong this lunchtime, as a £5 take from an Itbox resulted in just two coins coming out. Even some probings into the chute only yielded one more coin. I guess what I was thinking about was more that a higher proportion of Paragons seem to be out of service at any one time than ItBoxes, although maybe even that's not the case. I'll withdraw my remark, in any case.Ernest W. Quality wrote:I'd challenge that claim. There are far too many Itboxes where the coin mech either doesn't accept any money, or doesn't pay it all out unless you stick a pencil up the chute, or bash the machine around (usually the barman will suggest this).grecian wrote:I'd also say that the overall hardware/software reliability of an ItBox is better than that of a Paragon.

Moneycmob is now a GW game, its done by a third party, as was Dungoen Dosh. Spend It Like...? is old and, quite rightly, a complete load of toss. Word Cube COULD have been a good game, if they had got the 3d aspect of it correct, but then wasn't that Eclipse gaming or something, and not GW.QuizMaster wrote: The only reason to distinguish Paragon from any other box is the games the other boxes don't have i.e. Moneycomb, Cops & Robbers, Word Cube, Pints Make Prizes, Spend it Like....?, Dungeon Dosh.
All classics I'm sure you'd agree.
And the only thing to distinguish Paragon from any other box is the games they have which it doesn't i.e. Deal or No Deal, Millionaires, Caveman Capers, Monopoly, Mousetrap, Cluedo, Hangman, Nuts etc.
The defence rests m'lud.
Personally, i have a number of games on each box that i play. I don't really care what box it is, as long as it has some games on it i enjoy playing, and therefore all the boxes have content which appeals to me. Why would the GW give all their best content to others, and vice versa - surely then each bos wuld be exactly the same, and player choice would be even more limited - there would be no point in having any more than one type of cab. Companies HAVE to have unique content, otherwise its just not worth them having their own cab.
And UP - I agree that the new revolution games are a bit dull. Suit Pursuit is ok, but its SO obvious when it doesn't want you to win - first two rounds are really easy, needing only about 4 hands on each in total to proceed. Third round (for a pound) requires about 10 hands, some of which are almost impossible to get, in far less time. Very sharp difficulty curve.
Buzzle looks good, but after three games on it, i've decided its far, far too hard.

antiwordwise
i have fallen out of love with it a bit though. although wordwise has some nice touches it can't hold a candle to WU. for a start there is no money in it (yet atleast) and if myself and the bobs aren't getting our money back then nobody is, also the sense of achievement is much less.QuizMaster wrote: UP is a confirmed Paragon lover,
we all have a bias towards certain games but for the word game genre, WU is clearly top of the class. fair enough put a pretender in the mix to see how it gets on but to swap a very good word game for a glitzy but uninspirational word game does nobody any favours.
could just be that the releases i've seen happen to have not maintained WU, but i've yet to come across the new release with both (or just WU).
if i had any clout with gwhl i'd mention this. i don't want to have to go to pubs with shitboxes just so i can play one good game and 24 sparkly turds.
nobody ever wins on those things.
