Looks real bad for the SWP genre. My boss gave us the low down last week. It appears that HMRC will not back down and they are after the back tax which will have a bad effect. Maube even maany companies going down the tubes!!! Boss reckons it may even efect us and we only do fruities !!!

Well aren't the "industry" planning any legal challenge? The Gambling Commission redefining what a gambling machine is seems pretty arbitrary.

Quizard. The people who are making the rulkes are HMRC not Gaming Commission. These tax people are alaw unto themselves. Also are on earning related bonus nice if you can get it!!!

Is it a coincidence or did the interest in taxing swp machines by customs & excise/revenue occur shortly after the proliferation of the 'SKILL' quest machines?

Well not just Skill Quest although in their website and advertising material they almost brag about how they "legally" circumvent the law which isn't really the best idea.

Games on ordinary boxes like Casino Royal, Skill Ball Bingo and Texas Holdem etc are also seen as taking the piss and haven't really helped.
