Just to confirm this is chess right?

I would cane that good and proper, I is a chess pro. Bloop.

They should do a fruit machine with chess (NOT CONNECT 4) as the main feature. I'd like to see people with their 'super sets' and 'dark hits' and 'knowledge of numbers' take on the reverse Chigorin variant of the Lopez against the clock. Mix in some other skills and some spoiler questions and a shoot 'em up and a really fast winstopper and some mad numbers and you have the ultimate skill game.

Speaking of chess, a little while ago i was having dinner with Garry Kasparov. It was a black and white checked tablecloth.....took him 2 hours to pass me the salt! 8)

Like it, like it. Good one.

Why did you even need the salt anyway? Was the food a little stalemate?

the knight's tour is an interesting thing. as is the turk.
they didn't have computersin 18th century so i can't link the turk but the other one is a feat of mental agility:

it is a good game but as roy castle would have said: "dedication's what you need".
nobody ever wins on those things.

I'm always up for a bit of chess, anyone suggest a good on-line game, I don't mind taking one of you on. ;)

Erm, I best check-mate my diary though, as I don't want someone getting ready to play and then end up in a huff* as I'm not on-line.

*I know, I know it's draughts, but hey, puns are as hard to find as a piece of coal in a black knight on this subject! ;)

I would also be interested in a game of chess if anyone does have a good online place to play.

http://gameknot.com

You have to create an account but it's free. Standard games are set with a 2 or 3 days allowed per move, but obviously if you are online at the same time as your opponent then you can play as quickly as you like.

I'm registered as civ77 there if anyone fancies a game.

I wonder what the record is for the longest period of time taken by a chess player to make one move
