Ah, that grating sound is horrible to hear - especially if you've got a huge bank built up!

Chug-chug-chug-chug-chug-chug-chug-chug... pause... DER-NER-NER-NER!!! lol

There's a vortex near me that has the third reel exactly one position out of sync. Often do quite well out of it if it's on. I'm assuming a less-understanding punter has played it previous to it being off, and complained that they've 'won' something, but it didn't award it. However, the note changer alarms about 50% of the notes used. Thankfully it's next to a GM machine, so the £2 from changing up a twenty 'usually' doesn't get lost.

How was you offered a pot mate and why turn it down? If it offers early it is on one anyway.
I've had quite a few Vortexes be semi ready of late that I've had up to £10 and the bonus awards lucky 7 and the gamble to super streak gives the 7. It's a weird one that I can't quite decide whether the code doesn't recognise the lucky 7 and awards the number thinking 'crap' number when it doesn't want to give mega.
It's nearly always stone cold if taken this way after.

There are exceptions kid as you say, the old lucky 7 scenario or catching the tail end of a streak where it only has one left in it, but if showing and full then it should be ok. Good result for you spyder but you are a braver man than me to be messing about with a red like that, i'd take the profit as quick as I can and run!

Kidgloves: That reminds me of a 'rip' that I discovered on an oldish Impule machine; Spin 'n' Tonic. Whereby you always tried to get a lucky seven, particularly from the skill bonus, as whatever square you were on, if you hi/lo'd and was succesful, it would 95%+ of the time roll the 7 in, for another gamble. Land on the red 'cocktail shaker' on a 1/2/3/10/11/12, gamble, get the seven, gamble again with the lucky seven for the 3 red shakers and the top streak!

Used to do it regular, two or three times a week. That also made me wonder if it 'was unaware' of the fact that you could effectively win two hi/lo gambles from a good first number.

I do like Reds like Vortex, etc., though, when it gives you a no lose position from SS to MS. If it's a 'valid' no lose, as in it rolls in a 1 or 12, or a bonus that gives you no lose, you know it's flying. As you say though, the Lucky 7 approach often leaves it stone afterwards. One of my quickest £70s came from a Vortex where the number reel was buggered. I'd got up to red sevens, and was on a 3+bonus, which gave 'Features' if I recall. I went higher and told myself I'd collect SS, as I'd only put about £2 in, and I didn't want to get roped in to a m/c where the reel was dicey - too unreliable! Anyway, the gamble on the 3+bonus gave me a long spin and a 6 came in. I was just reaching over to press the collect button, when I noticed that only the 'hi' button was flashing. Considered my options - I knew that the bulb in the 'lo' button was working, so, I hit the 'hi'. MS for £70. :)

I think a few of us have mentioned before about dodgy reels on Reds, leading to huge payouts when the time is right. I remember a £110 top I had from a Legal Tender a year or so ago. The reel had been un-synced for yonks, but first board topped out and gave 4x£25s and that tenner! :)

Strangest thing happened to me last night on a Vortex, was gambling up the cash trail like you do, on a 10 bonus on £10, lower... 1.
easy MS never seen it, had numerous lucky7 scenarios in the past though :)

Any of you lads had a go in the new service station built in Birstall? On the A6 i think, right random place. Was going to try but didn't bother as i was in a hurry last week.
