easiest pickings

Post by tootat »

just out of curiousity which in everyones experience is the easiest game to win any money on??

dont get me wrong i am not stupid and have great general knowledge but the most i have ever won on these is £10 and that was on dond (early itbox). i usually play dond, spot the difference, monster cash, hells bells and the odd monopoly.

if you have anything to add please feel free.

cheers

Simple answer - nothing is easy and this is especially true nowadays. I'd find it easier to list the games that are definitely to be avoided, of which Monster Cash and Spot the Difference (even if you can develop that special trick with your eyes described elsewhere on here) would be near the top of the list.

I would say you need to pick one or two games (preferably ones with some skill element) and put a lot of effort into learning how to play them. Once you've done that, you will be guaranteed a profit (and top place on every hiscore board which is my main concern  )

It does require effort though and you will lose money to start with...

Woo-hoo, I can post a reply on the more 'intelligent' side of FruitChat!! :D

I played Crazy Money (golf) long and hard until I knew a fair few of the answers and more importantly the angles on the courses. Plus the end game was all down to greed, unlike CM2 which was just a lottery.

I've a bit of a soft spot for DOND no questions. Out of my last 6 games i've got to the end 4 times, and won £1, £3, £3 and £4. It's obvious as fuck when it stitches you up, but it's not a bad egg if you ask me.

Other games with some value (how much value is varied) i find are:

X Factor
Bully
Fantasy Football Quiz
ItBox Soccer
Nuts
Pub Quiz
Caveman Capers/Hells Bells

If you want to consistently win pick one game and stick to it. Also, don't bother playing anything on a second page of a games menu - this will have far less money going in from punters and you can only win on games if other people are losing on them.

Pub Quiz is probably the best game for a beginner. It's not easy, but it is fair.

I'd say pub quiz was relatively easy to win from. I've had a lot of £3s, a few £5s, and came desperately close to a tenner once but missed the last question. It's not big money, but not bad.

I'd agree with QM and say that Pub Quiz is not easy. I don't play it enormously often given other games available, but I can count the number of £3+ prizes I've got off it on the fingers of two hands (including one jackpot which I remember vividly because of its rarity).

That said, it is a good game for a beginner because (a) the format is so straightforward and without gimmicks; and (b) getting a £1 prize is relatively straightforward so a beginner should be able to learn a fair few questions without losing too much cash.

For the same reason I'd recommend Trivia For Dummies on the Paragon cabinets. This has the added benefit that winning £3+ prizes is significantly easier than Pub Quiz (IMHO - I think some others on this forum disagree).

Sticking to the ItBoxes, Bullseye is a good beginner's game I think, and according to recent posts on this forum even some of the top level players are playing it a lot at the moment.

Generally the advice about sticking to specific games and learning them well is good advice; the best bet would be to choose those games from the ItBox as those are most common and easiest to locate, being predominantly located in chain pubs (you'll soon establish which chains).

thanks for all your input. had a go on PUB QUIZ last night for the first time and to be honest it was either flying or just gave easy questions, anyway i won £3 which i dont think was bad for first attempt. also, the questions usually had at least one answer which definately was a red herring.

It's meant to give access (via a password) to pub staff to games and other facilities which are specifically kept for them but I've never actually seen it being used.

The other similar button (Manager's Choice) gives anyone access to an extra game that isn't on the main screens, usually an old one that has been taken off. In theory this game should be different on each ItBox but in practice it usually seems to be the same game on each one - Cryptic Clues being the most recent one I believe.

DOND Big Reds....Looks like the boys from BFG have exhausetd all variants of Noel on fruit machines, so now its time to move onto the skill machines.

This must be the easiest game to win on....only had to answer 3 questions to play the cash round and won £4....cool...ok so next time answered 3 questions to win 10p (at the cost of 50p for the game ) but... still made a little profit overall

power 5 next maybe????

Just to pick up on the comment about the Managers Choice button, I agree it is mainly Cryptic Clues although I have seen Hangman2 and Subbuteo offered.

I guess it all depends on if the Manager can actually be bothered to update his choice!

I've seen this once, on a Gamesnet in Liverpool at the weekend. I wondered what the "catch" was when reading the spiel and after playing it a few times it seems that the catch will be that most of the time the prizes will be pitiful. This game will be a cause of mystery to those that don't play it, namely it will be the reason why you will start to see 23p spare credit when you put your £1 in.

I think most of us on here would view this one as another uncomfortable merging of the AWP and SWP worlds à la The Great Escape. Removing most of the skill needed to win takes away whatever competitive edge we still retain.

There, I knew I couldn't remain cheerful for the WHOLE of 2008...
