John Lowe's famous nine dart finish

Post by grecian »

There was a brief feature on this in the Guardian's sport section on Saturday, which irritatingly doesn't appear on the website. In a footnote at the bottom it said something like:

"A pub quiz game based on John Lowe's nine dart finish is released today."

Anyone seen it? Is it merely an addition to the GamesNet or ItBox?

news to me. it could be a pub quiz other than SWP though. but it also raises a couple of other things (even disregarding Grecian's choice of newspaper ;) )

was john lowe not the first to get a "perfect" nine darter? (i.e. T20, T19, bull x3)

and

the guardian sport section is actually very good, especially the bit called knowledge which is online so you don't have the ignominy of asking your newsagent for the guardian.
nobody ever wins on those things.

Sorry UP - I feel duty bound to ask whether you read a newspaper?

You're unduly sniffy about the Guardian Sue. I read the Telegraph for years but switched in about 2003 when I realised quite how little news there was in that paper. Guardian's much better although I agree a lot of the comment isn't worth much attention. The sport section is good, you're right.

I take the Daily Star of a morning and the Times and Sunday times at the weekend (which we have delivered). I wonder which papers are the read of choice for other fruitchatters?

I don't really read any newspapers as all of them are guilty of some sort of bias or hidden agenda.

I do like the crossword in the Daily Telegraph though.

On a short train or bus journey, 20 mins or so I enjoy a good Sun or Star.

If ive actually got the time to read something, I quite enjoy the Times.

The newer small sheet version. Me and a broadsheet is like a pisshead trying to put a tent up in the dark.

Used to get The Independent but now think The Grauniad has the best vfm. The sports section is excellent with some good columnists - even Russell Brand's football one on a Saturday. Media section is good on a Monday, as is Film and Music on Fridays. Saturday's Guide is funny - Charlie Brooker and Grace Dent. I prefer their crossword too. Now if only there was a quiz column in one of the papers!

there is, the times on fridays.
the thunderer also runs an etiquette column which is pitched at just the right level of tongue-in-cheekiness
nobody ever wins on those things.

I read The Sun (says exactly the same thing as the broadsheets in a tenth of the time), although I do get the Times and Telegraph when Im at the Uni and they are sold cheap ( I like the chess columns).
My vote for the worst newspaper is The Big (T)Issue if it counts as a newspaper as its only fit for wiping your **** in my opinion and the Independent as it could cure a sleeping disorder , nothing remotely interesting in it ever...........
