Cash versus Tournaments

Post by harry 3 »

Used to play cash only but have had more success in tournament play (or possibly on a hot streak). Won a 83 seater tournament, a 24 seater S&G and three 10 seater's in the last seven days. $1100 profit this month.

What do you play ??????

Is anyone up for a Fruitchat tournament ???

We tried to have a couple recently, but both time the turnout was absolutely gash.... 4 in total.

Perhaps if we all just arranged to join a bigger tourney at the same time?

Tournaments for me................

Different style of play to cash games. Plus I have been busted a few times for $00's of dollars a hand in cash games. At least with a tournament you can only lose x amount of money (unless its a rebuy)

What site you play on ??

every poker player HAS to read Harrington. He advocates tight solid tournament strategy. even if you prefer to play loose aggressive poker you have to read it to undertand the way the majority of your opponents are playing.

I also highly recommend "the psychology of poker" by Alan Schoonmaker. not a poker strategy book but it completely changed my outlook on poker. makes you look at your opponents and understand how they play and more importantly, why they play that way. when you understand your opponents motivation for playing it changes how you read their actions in a game.

I read Super system about half a dozen times. the style in the book matched 1970's cash games, NOT modern tournament strategy.

Still worth a read but you can't base your game on it anymore. Doyle is a legend but he doesn't play like that anymore.
