Hex Timelimit
Hex Timelimit
Hello All,
My first post although I've been a regular reader for a couple of weeks.
This weekend, for the 3rd time in different pubs, I was mid game in Hex when it just "bombed" out of the game back to the main menu with no recognition of money won during the game.
This seems to happen about 15 minutes or so into the game. Leisurelink say there's no inbuilt game duration timer??
Has anyone else run into this problem on Hex or any other games?
Thanks

Bugs like this do happen unfortunately - there was a bug on Millionaire 2006 on the previous ItBox edition where the game would simply freeze on one of the larger prizes. I can't say I've seen one on Hex Appeal but then it is a long time since I've played it (and if you can be 15 minutes into a game and yet still be only 'mid game' then I'm quite happy I'm not missing much!).
Welcome on board anyway.

I'm obviously jinxed then. Was playing lunchtime and the keyboard part of the screen vanished. it wouldn't let you choose the letters even though you knew where they ought to be on the screen. Luckily, we had a Complete Phrase and that filled in the keyboard letters as it filled in the answer!!
Even more luckily, it put the keyboard back for the next answer (and didn't play up again) but we bailed out at £2 (safety first!).
Overall, we turned £3 into £7 in 45 minutes so can't complain!

I agree with you Grecian.
It's never going to be a replacement job, just something to do of a lunchtime and it's satisfying to get out more than you put in.
Given the quality and generosity of some (most) of the newer arrivals these days, I'll settle for a smaller, almost guaranteed, return rather than jackpot-chasing and ending up with nothing thanks to the spoiler questions that they can throw in.
At least with Hex there's always a choice of categories and all answers, even if obscure, are solveable with perseverance.
Each to their own, that's what i say!

Quite right - Hex has been around a fairly long time so I'd imagine that quite a lot of people do play it. Not my cup of tea, but as you say, for the risk-averse punter it's a good way to get a decent length of game and a fair chance of getting the quid back.Hexpert wrote:.

There are 3 of us that go lunchtime quizzing. Each gets to choose what we play for their 2 games (so we do get a bit of variety) and then we share out what we win.
One guy likes Cluedo Reloaded and Hangman but is getting lured into AllStar Quiz where it's arrived on the machine. The other guy used to prefer Ant & Dec and Mousetrap but has recently become a Hex devotee (with occasional visits to Alien Attack) in his quest to at least break even.
Making a profit helps towards the cost of the drinks and it's a bit of exercise for the brain cells to help stave off Alzheimers just that little bit longer!

Getting lured into AllStar Quiz???????? It's awful, how the hell could you be lured into that bag of crap??? All of Cool's games have been shocking, that's what you get when AWP people start making SWP's. They dont understand the 'skill' element.
Well, I wrestled with

And I'm happy to state
I finally won out over it.

I only play hex for a laugh with a mate who likes it - some of the spoiler questions are a complete joke. One category i remember was 'Left Handed Actors'. Yeah, 'cos everyone knows those don't they...
I also got 'popular sports' as a round. Being a keen sportsman i took it on, and duly lost. The answer was sepak takraw (which i now know does exist, but still...). After that i never played hex again! :x
