hall of fame thread has disappeared. boo hoo

Post by Istenem »

i was going to post in the hall of fame thread but it appears to have vanished.

there is a new question bank on C&R which includes questions about two of my previous pseudonyms and one where my real name is one of the (wrong) answers.

it is possible i was hallucinating as i was vay, vay drunk.

Some cruel people might say that, like watching Everton, you have to be vay, vay drunk to play that s**t!

What kind of question can it ask about one of your pseudonyms?

an amateur sleuth could work out my name if they could be bothered. also i have one or two acquaintances in the industry, it could be coincidental but i'm not called john or steve and the name doesn't mean anything (except in obscure nature reserves with spelling mistakes). but, for the umpteenth time i am not on GWHL's payroll.

Your Eminence, a sample question might be 'which of the following is the yiddish word for misshapen dwarf?'

a. SNERUST, b. ÖLELJ c. MEESKITE

it is a perfectly fair question ;)

I would guess C, purely cos it sounds like a Yiddish word.

So I suppose it is a fair question (if I'm right)

spot on.

(it is subject to alternative spelling when transliterated from the yiddish script.)

Spotted on Every Loser Wins:

Question: Where would you find Nil Satis, grecian, unknownpseudonym and Ernest W Quality?

Answers:
A - at a "saddoes" convention
B - on a quiz machine website
C - in the Beano comic

I'm paraphrasing slightly but this is surely real fame at last!

Fantastic! I wondered whether I'd ever get a mention on one of these homages! That's made my day. Roll on the saddoes convention.

Reviving an old thread...

Spotted on the old-style Trivia for Dummies at the weekend:

Q. Which of these was involved in Hercules' 8th Labour?

A. The Grecian Fish

This doesn't appear to be a reference to anything other than our very own Exetonian (if that is indeed the right word!).
