Close (Weyland). Chariots of Fire won the Oscar in the previous year. But what is the latest British film to win an Oscar.
UP - that was an American film.

I was going to say ET but that would be a yank film. Must be early 80s then?

1983 to be precise.
It also (or at least used to) hold the world record for the highest number of extras used in a film.

Close. Ben Hur was the 1950's. And American.
It was a funeral scene which required such a large number of extras....
