Has anyone else spotted the new variation in player annoyance that now crops up on Sceptre-managed Paragons that have the new 'Quiz Zone' menu style? Once the machine has paid out all it is allowed to, trying to collect any further winnings simply causes the machine to think about it for a minute then revert to its previous state as if nothing had happened, i.e. there is no error message and your accumulated winnings are still displayed. The first time this happened I just dismissed it as a one-off but the regularity of it happening with Sceptre-badged machines and their previous history in this area, as covered in this thread, makes me think otherwise.

Nothing to do with Sceptre, for once. This is standard across all new menu machines. It's an improvement over it disappearing and saying "hopper error", I suppose (though occasionally the bank does disappear).

I think the two errors are caused by differing issues. I emptied a new Sceptre quiz zone today (didn't take much doing, as it had a whopping £2 in it), and rather than the error described above, it paid £2 and displayed iou £11 call manager (in new colours). The error described above is I think a symptom of an actual fault as opposed to an empty machine. There have always been these separate types of payout problem on Paragons, just that each issue seems to handle them differently. Personally I think there is a hardware problem which occasionally manifests itself; experience suggests it happens to about 2% of attempted payouts.

Excuse me for being thick but is the fact Sceptre has took over the reason we now have these little Quiz Zone ones instead of the prior, more expansive menu?

Quizzone goes across companies and are not limited to Sceptre. How hiding the content of a machine encourages punters to play it is beyond me.There are so many manifestations of it as well.

Exactly! It's almost like they only want pros to bother playing it now. It's like an unadvertisement ffs

Yeah, the design of the new menu system seems pretty inept. They have a full screen to work with but only use the middle third, just so that it can SCROLL? Oh wow, how trendy :o They clearly don't want anyone to be able to adjust the volume either.
