reel fault?

reel fault?

hi i have a barcrest red hot roll machine
it has worked fine up until now
when i plug it in it it starts up ok and then an alarm goes off
in the display it says REEL SPIN ALM
and there is a 21 in small display
any help or ideas would be great

Most common faults are that one of the reels is being obstructed by something, or that it's not being "seen" by the opto sensor due to a build up of dirt etc ~ given the 2.1 code, it's most likely to be the 1st of the reels. There are obviously other possible faults, but these are simple ones to eliminate first. Out of interest, is this the Club or AWP machine?

sorry to sound a bit thick but how do i clean the sensor i cannot work out whats what
not sure what machine it is

Ok. Try swapping reel 1 with reel 2 and then switch the machine on again.
Do you get a different error code? Has the fault followed the reel, or does it remain in the same place?

It varies depending on the manufacturer, but generally speaking, there's a wiring loom to each of the reels with a "block connector" at the base of each which just pulls apart/off. You'll need to look carefully at the reel assembly to see how it frees from the machine, but Barcrest reels are generally secured by a big plastic clip near the base, but towards the centre of the reel ~ prise and hold this back somehow (a long thin screwdriver can usually do the job) and the reel should then lift up easily away from the machine by pulling on the handle shape of the reel
