Why would anyone mark a machine?! Even for the above reason, they may change the chip and keep it in the same cabinet?

Yeah they can change a chip but I have only used a tally system so it would not really matter as long as they didn't drop the chip down.
Really I was referring to stuff that may cost more to find out if the swine is chipped. Then I have been known to place a small mark somewhere.
