Is this a Cool face?

Post by QuizMaster »

Came across whilst trying to work out that when you google for The Big Match couple, it directs you to every site but fruitchat. Come on moderators, if you want to get posters looking in get yourself higher up the Google pecking order.

I am presuming that this may be Mr. Cool

i think Cool posted that here a while ago.

i agree it would be good to get fruitchat higher up on google but how can the mods do that?

i have hijacked some perfectly good foreign words which google directs here and to EWQ's site.
i'll have a word with some people i know at the currant bun and see if they want to link to us from their website's coverage of this.
nobody ever wins on those things.

These quotes from the Morning Advertiser's own story of David and Lesley are interesting if a bit vague:
The Morning Advertiser wrote:Chris Hawkins, marketing director of Buzztime - which provides interactive entertainment systems for pubs - said people walking out with thousands of pounds would become more common in the future.

"The technology going into pub entertainment these days is set to bring about a new era in the trade," he said.

"Prizes supplied by sponsors and technology suppliers create a new reason for people to go to pubs - an important consideration when you're looking at how to cope with a future where smoking is banned.

"While people are in the pub trying to win prizes they will of course be spending money on food and drink as well.

"Well done to the Brewises!"
It's a bit of a tease in that he doesn't say what sort of prizes and games he's talking about but are they considering £50/£100 Jackpots, or even (God forbid!) making the £20 Jackpots on most games actually achievable instead of mythical as they are now??

Maybe he's talking about competitions, where the jackpot is won by whoever is best over a certain period.

"While people are in the pub trying to win prizes they will of course be spending money on food and drink as well."

Yeah, at the nearest supermarket before/after...

You have to register to see these pages, therefore Google cannot access them, and they won't be on google's database.

The only ones that are still on google are the pages that existed before some bright spark decided to force everyone to register before even being allowed to read the posts.

I do apologise mr microhead for trying to get people to register on the forum rather than just leach all the information they can get.. Maybe im not such a "bright spark".

The guy quoted from Buzztime should buzz right off. What he has got to do with swps at the moment beats me.A quote from the MD'S of Leisure Link and Gamestec would have been more appropriate.

Why would someone post on a public forum if they were worried about people "leaching information"?

I used to just look to see the posts without contributing myself. However I realised if everybody just did the same there wouldnt be a fruitchat! I have learned very little from the site , but find other peoples contributions interesting , and it makes a change from boring my friends and family about my obsession. It would be a good idea to introduce a system whereby if a person didnt contribute at least one post every couple of months they would be deleted and blocked from getting back on the site.I respect people who I have disagreements with and who have had a go at me a lot more than a watcher / non-contributor e.g Nils Satis who I think talks a lot of sense and is a valuable contributor despite having a pop at me over the Litten Tree debacle !

Heh - it'd be called 'Fruitwatch' !

I think it's a good idea to make sure you register, even just to browse...

i think it sucks, the reason is that a: google won't direct users here (as already pointed out) and b: most people can't be arsed registering just to see if there are any posts worth looking at.

Hence the same half dozen or so posters in here for the last year.

same half dozen
I think there's one or two more 'regulars' than that! :?

I agree that there's rarely sensitive info. posted in here, but there are a lot of discussions that give out a lot of useful information. If you want to get a look at that, then I think it's only fair that it is 'acknowledged' that you are viewing it.

Just my 2p of course...

Mr Microhead to ask you to spend so little time registering for so much is hardly too much ask!

for so much what? It's not exactly the world's most active forum. Most forums don't require you to register to read the posts, so of course loads of people aren't going to bother
