Lights out.....

Post by Northern Monkey »

I am sure that some FruitChatters will know the unit in question. A Double deal or No Deal in the station bar at London Bridge station where the fact that a third of the lights on the left DOND panel are out and now half of them out on the other side. Slightly negates the 'advantage' from having both sides in play!?!

Chilvers double dond in golden lion ipswich is a disgrace with a similar number of lights out. An already filthy machine sited by an even filthier company with most of the lights out means this is one to def swerve!!

It's just poor when bulbs are blown / missing / unscrupulously removed. As you say, pretty much eliminates (pardon the pun!) the benefit of having two boards to play.

I've had it where one or two values are out and you have to keep an eye on how many boxes are eliminated to work out / guess whether one of the busted ones has gone. Any more than 2 though and it's bloody difficult...

I once saw a video on YouTube of a 5 pounder dond in an arcade where the top reel had been removed from the machine, just a hole with a red bulb behind it, taking away the small edge that those who know their boxes could have, very cheeky if you ask me.

There's quite a few DOND's and clones about where the mirror doesn't work properly too.

I've never had a stuck or missing mirror but I have seen the occasional incorrect value of the box. Like your resultant box was £6 but it only showed up as £4 on the decal.
