Sod that I've gone on the wifes :D

They wanted £1400 for me as I only passed in August, or an extra £200 on the wifes premium with me as a named driver.

that's what I've just done, because I wrote off my old car when a deer ran out in front of me (my fault apparently!) my ncb is only 3 yrs now from full before, so our new car was 900 for me to be insured on, or 190 on her policy with me as named driver...hmmm wonder what I chose!

True but for a £750 saving I can handle that.

To be honest I think car insurance is legalized theft and the lower you pay the better as you are screwed when you make a claim either way.

Mines gone up this year too. Was paying £38 a month last year for my little 1.2 Clio. They sent a renewal at £51 a month, i told em to shove it, and got it down to £44 moving to Hastings insurance.

Sold my car, and just bought a bigger 16v 1.6 2000 Astra sport, which obviously means I'm now hit with more road tax (£112 for 6 months instead of £69), bigger petrol bills, and now £49 a month for insurance. It's gone up for everyone though, and i've only been driving for nearly 4 years, so i've not got too much NCB and experience in their eyes to lower it significantly. £49 is just about acceptable i guess.

When I had a look on compare websites they were really expensive. I'm through quinn which I found is the cheapest. I also found ringing places for quotes give me better/cheaper results. Hope this helps!
