Thats probably because if he accepts it he'll only see about £1500 after super tax & NI and possibly an agents cut, so the organisers will just donate £4,000 to charity.

That's why he caused a fuss about not being worth it, they just talk about the £4K prize but with what he earns he doesn't see a lot of it.
