re the connect 4's.............it became obvious there was an easy £4 or £6 win to be had every time on these.........everybody seemed to know the "trick"

Thats the beauty of the internet.

A quick google brings up the solution.

It wont be long before quiz machine question banks appear online...somewhere.

Funny how players think that the key to pot loads of money is being provided with the question banks. It may help a little but the way to riches is to play a little and often gradually acquiring the knowledge.A large dump of questions is only going to help the pro memory men, savants and the writer of the questions such as Brewis 'and his tart' that Quizmaster put so eloquently,at least for him........

the fact is people who have a full on swp addiction or made swp playing a vocation depending on which way you look at it have one major advantage over the rest of you (particularly those with children) and thats time.......

Dave why do you have to bring me up again with the morning advertiser feature? It doesnt bother me about my photo appearing again to the landlord community but it does incur the wrath of fruit chatters! And yes it was ME who approached the MA.My logic was that the story would show up the pub in question and the majority of hardworking fairminded publicans would support me.I was proved correct.

read the feature about the midland player before.Apart from the fact its ancient the guy had obviously a screw loose having to wear wigs, having a driver (less profit), considering moving ('too hot') and appearing to claim dole (DSS interested in winnings) so either being a sponger , greedy or not having the ability to be a pro.Interested to see how he would get on now.

Heh, I read that article and wondered why it didn't sound quite right... ...and then noticed that it was written in April 1993! :D

I remember reading the article at the time. In my experience players who courted this sort of publicy were usually fringe players who craved some sort of public or peer group recognition. Anyone who was making a grand a week (as people were at that time) wouldn't deliberatly draw attention to themselves if they had any sense. Such stories on TV or newspapers always caused a minor backlash.

The story itself is largely bollocks -- I would have thought the one way that was guarenteed to attract attenion to yourself would be to go in pub wearing a wig  .

Ohh I dunno. Wearing running shorts and carrying a herbal tea bag around is a pretty good way as well
