Barcrest game card . . . please can anyone help??

Post by ju-ju-7 »

Hello,
I have recently had a problem with my fruit machine, I had no display on the 7 pin alphanumeric screen at all the game plays fine just no screen. I have now worked out that it is one of the chips on the game gard, Some of the chips are labeled SND (two) one labled P1 and one P2 Which i now know are the sound chips. Does any one know what the others are? BCA 0.1 Is the one that is gone does anyone know what that is? I also have a few labled Ic ....
The removeable chips do they contain the GAME files or is the pcb with the non removeable chips containing the game files?
Does any one know where i can get the BCA 0.1 chip?
Fruit machine is called Calamari club
Thankyou for any help

the removable chips contain sound and game, just put them on another card,if you have one.is it of a mpu4 motherboard or mpu5. :)

It's unlikely to be the chips. I would suggest you look at the alphanumeric disply itself, the supply to it, but suspect you'll find it to be a fault within the MPU4 itself, or perhaps dodgy pins on the MPU4 leading to the alphanumeric display.

Check you battery

Very common fault if it is MPU4 - most likely battery damage causing corrosion on the board,
The tracks that run to the display connector run under the battery and are normally the 1st to corrode.

It an easy fix once you know what track it is,
